Five GI Joe unmaskings, and singing Dreadnoks!

During the run of Marvel's GI Joe, you were on very rare occasions shown what was under some of the most famous masks in the Hama-verse.  I'm going to share with you today the real faces of Storm Shadow, Zartan, Destro, Cobra Commander, and Snake-Eyes.

EMPOWERED and Webcomic fans....

All of you probably recognize Warren's EMPOWERED---in the latest "chapter" of the webcomic THE CROSSOVERLORD, we pay homage to one of the most famous comic covers at all--- while cameoing a zillion webcomic superhero-oriented characters, and several non-webcomic superheroic charactes to boot! The crib sheet will be out later tomorrow---but we invite you to see how many characters you can identify. All of these were used with the permission of the creators. Check it out at http://www.drunkduck.com/Crossoverlord/index.php?p=598517.

This will end terrifically for all involved
Cinefools has an interview up with the writer of the new Wonder Woman movie (which apparently still exists), Brent Strickland.

CF: Earlier in the year there was a website set up where each day a piece of a poster was reveled to show Megan Fox as Wonder Woman what are your thoughts of her as Princess Diana?

BS: If somebody put me in charge of casting I would certainly ask Megan Fox to screen test.

Welp, he's got the character down pat.

And for legality...

Obama! Liefeld! Madrock!
Sorry to have kept all y'all waiting.

4 pages from the newest issue of Youngblood, Rob's long awaited return to writing and pencilling his baby. If you're an Obamaniac (aren't we all?), you should know these are the *only* Liefeld pages featuring O in this issue.

There is an Obama cover as this is a flip book with a short supplemental tale with an Obama cameo (pencilled by Liefeld protege Marat Mychaels) but this's a new book so four scans allowed only.

Oh, Bats.
From Justice League Adventures #20 (not my scan, by the way). The League's emotions are magnified by the Psycho Pirate. Hilarity ensues.

A little corned beef and cabbage wouldn't hurt
The huge wave of Irish immigrants in the mid-19th Century (from the Potato Famine) left strong anti-Irish prejudices that lasted well into the 20th Century. It's strange how familiar the stereotypes about the Irish seem, but then they are the same stereotypes that seem to be leveled against most surges of immigrants. BRINGING UP FATHER by George McManus played on some of these attitudes and defused them through humor. Jiggs is a rough working man who becomes immensely wealthy through the Sweepstakes. Although his tastes don't change --he remains loyal to his old cronies at Dinty Moore's and is happiest when playing cards, drinking and eating corned beef and cabbage -- his wife Maggie and their daughter are determined social climbers who want to join America's aristocracy. So there's the conflict that plays out. (McManus also loved fashion and architecture and design in general, so the slapstick is acted out against gorgeous backdrops, very Art Deco at times. Here's a page from July 1921.
