No ! Not the "pocket universe"...
Photobucket

As much as I love Earth 3 and the Crime Syndicate , I can really imagine how such a place would function. In my previous post the HBO show "deadwood" was seen as a clue. However, I don't see how you stop thing from getting to this point...

The Spirit - More surprise sex than a barrelful of Dr. Light!
So, a quick refresher for those of you who weren't reading comics in the 1940s. The Spirit is the Spirit. Commissioner Dolan is his contact in the police force. Ellen Dolan is his daughter and the Spirit's girlfriend. However, as Everyone Is Straight For The Spirit, Ellen is frequently on the wrong end of a love triangle.

Also, bondage. )

Dinah's not homophobic, Ollie!
One scan posted from the preview for JLA 31. The rest can be found here.

In which Dinah confirms that Ollie is, in fact, gay for Hal. That's pretty shocking news, huh? Couldn't have told you that, say, twenty years ago, could I? )

Literary fail.
I was scrolling back through the last couple weeks of posts on The Beat, saw this mentioned, and -- after boggling a bit -- remembered that some members of the old comm had been interested in the upcoming Marvel adaptation of 'Pride and Prejudice'.

Ninja Turtles Adventures #62: Meet the Future-Turtles
Since a bunch of people were confused by my last post (not surprising, as it was the tail-end of a 5-part story), lbd_nytetrayn suggested I post some scans from Part 1 to sort of belatedly introduce people to the Turtles 100 years in the future. (Well, 85 years now...it was originally published in '94.)

6 pages under the cut. )

Really? You're Not Going To Shill?
Well *I* am.

Our very own Bluefall got to voice Wonder Woman in the latest AMAZONS ATTACK review over at Atop the Fourth Wall.

I'm so proud. :)

For legality, Superman fails at dolphins.

Detective Comics #1
Well, this is my first post on Scans Daily since it moved over to IJ. In the move, some classic content was lost, and I'm reposting something I posted in the original Scans Daily, oh, years ago. I'm posting it at least in part for my own convenience, but I feel future generations deserve to know some comics history.

Let me tell you about a man named Slam... )

Thai 'Spider-Man' rescues autistic child
It's nice to know that, despite him selling his soul and cheating on his wife in America, Spider-Man's still a hero in other countries.

An unusual disguise has helped a Bangkok fireman rescue an eight-year-old boy who had climbed on to a third-floor window ledge, Thai police say.

The firefighter dressed up as the comic book superhero Spider-Man in order to coax the boy, who is autistic, from his dangerous perch.

Continuing my "Reprints from the old S_D, just for the heck of it"
To prove that my life does not revolve completely around finding new images of Dick Grayson in assorted bondage peril*, I present this manga selection for you...

Later in the series we meet some of Poseidon's General's who each wear their own armours, the Mariner Scales

* Oh, okay, you twisted my arm! :) And these are the other reasons for re-posting this particular post....

When Wondy was Awesome, part 12 (Against the Id)
Well, we've seen a lot of Diana beating up her friends with our last couple arcs, so let's go back to JLA proper for a bit and watch her save all her friends instead. We're into February of 2001 here (continuity-wise, contemporary with or perhaps a little after Hiketeia, though few years shy of that story by publish date), during the Waid run of JLA v3, and the glory years of the Big Seven League.

Now, despite being one of the strongest JLA writers I've read, Waid has done Diana an injustice or two in his day. (And he wrote "Fairy Tales," which I am not inclined to ever forgive him for). But by the time we get to this point in the JLA, Waid was well past his Kingdom Come foibles and hitting some very good notes with her character - such as during the "Id" arc that I bring today. In which there actually isn't much Diana, but when she is, it's damn well worth noting.

Next time: Diana faces down Darkseid in an OW@W interlude, with pretty, pretty Jimenez art.
