Help! Help! I'm being repressed! |
Right, so, for no reason at all I've been thinking about Arthurian legends lately and, uh, because I have kind of a one track mind my first thought was, "Hmmm...I wonder if he's ever fought Batman? OHSHI--What about Aquaman?!" And then my brain went *asdfjkl*
But that's not important, what IS important is that I know I've seen scans of heroes crossing over into Arthur's court (somehow) and that's what I'm here for folks! The good crack.
In exchange for some recommendations, I give thee: ( That time King Arthur came back from the dead and kicked all KINDS of alien invader ass! )

More Harley Quinn being a badass, this time in Harley Vision|
Continuing in anticipation of Gotham City Sirens, we learn, once again, that trying to collect a bounty on Harley doesn't pay off unless your actual goal is suicide. This one's from Kesel's run.
While there's been much debate over whether the Joker and others are really not guilty by reason of insanity, since they know what they're doing, Harley actually wasn't guilty during Kesel's run. She really didn't realize she was killing people. How this was shown was we'd switch from "reality" to how Harley saw what was happening. The shifts in perspective were done in a way that payed homage to her animated origins.

Black Cat goes from dethroning moment of suck to crowning moment of awesome in one panel|
Since today I’m posting the next installment in my fanfic about what would happen if Spider-Man got back together with Black Cat due to the events of One More Day (answer: DRAMA!), I thought it would be a good time to post one of my favorite Black Cat moments. Synergy and all that.
Black Cat is a funny character, because unlike Catwoman, who gets some respect as part of the official OTP, Felicia Hardy is almost a punching bag. The character keeps getting hit by retcons, bad plot developments, and... just really awful costume changes. Then no sooner has a new writer come along and gotten her back on track then she gets derailed again, sometimes by the same writer even. So to spotlight some of Black Cat’s untapped potential, an OOC derailment and an awesomely in-character canon-fix.

Harley Quinn vs. Batman|
Continuing posts in anticipation for Gotham City Sirens. Here's a scene from Harley Quinn #12 which climaxes Kesel's first arc.
Kenny Two-Bear had henched for just about all the main colorful freaks in Gotham. His brother, Nixon, was a veteran of Intergang, but was new in town. They both started working for Harley, but Nix just never quite got how things worked in that city. Kenny was always warning him that things are different, there, that there are things you can do other places, but that you just don't do in Gotham if you want to survive.
Nix didn't listen, and decided to break one of those rules, namely betraying his colorful psychotic boss. Kenny doesn't like the idea, knowing the consequences, but goes along because Nix is his brother.
Meanwhile, Batman, who's been investigating for several issues (And he's especially mad about the destruction of Wayne Manor in an earlier issue, though that totally wasn't really Harley's fault) is closing in...

Here we go again (mystery photo and weird scans)|
Hey there. Here's a post I was set to put up before getting sucker-punched by that suspended notice. in my usual way, it's some non-superhero material and a mystery photo of someone involved with comics.
I hope this first scan is legible enough to enjoy. It was a Xerox page someone gave me, lo these many years ago. The more I mess with the contrast, the worse it looks, so I'll let it be. We see Gilbert Shelton's Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers go to a diner. (For added fun, try to imagine a Freak Brothers page written and drawn by Steve Ditko. Or Howard Chaykin. Or Alex Ross. You won't know whether to laugh or cry.)
( anyone hungry? )
A typically weird and surreal page from Art Spiegelman. It's not as brain-destroying as some of his stuff, where one panel shows through another or whether the narrative keeps changing the art or where, let's face it, you can't be certain just what the hell is supposed to be going on. Spiegelman is a genius on his own level, but he sure likes to toy with the medium. This is from 1974's SHORT ORDER# 2.
( mystery guest, enter and sign in please! )Actually, I think a few of you have already identified this writer/artist before you even get this far in the sentence. Be that as it may, this chap was a Golden Age creator with a unique style, equally good at humor or horror or crime. He ended up doing full-page cartoons for a glossy magazine and making more money on a single cartoon than he got for an entire issue of [oops].
Welcome to the NHK! End of chapter one: it's all downhill from here...|
Not quality wise, there is actually some pretty awesome stuff, I mean it's all downhill from here as each character goes insane.
No, I'm not kidding.
I'm glad that I have the first chapter up, because now I can get to the really interesting stuff.
Also, there are one or two slightly NSFW panels in here.

Long time reader, first time poster dood|
Well, I've been a reader of the scans since 2005, so I figured it would time for me to contribute to the scans rather than just commenting on them.
Anyways... Here's a scan of the comic that comes with the OST of the Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Premium box. This comic was made by Penny Arcade.

one more for the fridge|
So back in 2006 I heard that Tamora Pierce (most famous for the Tortall series beginning with Alanna: the First Adventure) was collaborating with her husband, Tim Liebe, on a limited series run for Marvel that would detail the origins of a new White Tiger in the Daredevil cosmos.
Cool, I said, because even with her faults (this poster likes to pretend the Immortals quartet did not happen) Pierce writes some pretty genuinely kick-ass heroines.
Excited to see what she would do with the super-heroine trope, I picked up the whole run of White Tiger.
