Lois Lane, Superman's Wife in "Stand Back, I've Got This One!" One of my OTPs in ANY fandom is Lois and Clark. It's not even a preference, it's a Fact that they belong together. I know Lois has had a varied history, but I love her when she is shown as smart, sassy, and sexy, which is why I loved Justice League Classified #10, because it contains all three! It also shows why Lois and Clark work together so well. 6 and 1/3 pages behind cut. To bring you up to plot: someone commits suicide by jumping off a building. He wants to be the one suicide that Superman doesn't catch. He succeeds. Yeah I don't know why she would wear that to work. I believe in that case, Lois would be Batman. Do you ever think that the Lane-Kent's sex life must be reaaaaalllly kinky? The man flies around in a spandex suit after all. And she does figure out it out, because she is the Goddamn Lois Lane. Sadly there are no cycling shorts to be seen in the rest of the story arc. Now hopefully I didn't screw up the cut. Enjoy!

I really loved this sequence, and when I read the rest of the story, I said, "You're kidding, the rest of this is basically just an outline?"
And as I hadn't seen his work in a very long time, I also went: "Fuck me! THAT'S Guice?" I mean, really nice--totally realistic but not photostiff.

Eh, it's better than his Birds work, but I'm still not a fan. The motion never feels organic - there's just no sense of gesture at all - and the lines just don't have the consistency or symmetry comic characters need. Though his Clark is pretty good.
I love Lois. I also want more Superman fanservice.

I love Lois's pet name for Clark.
"Smallville"? I think it originated in the DCAU (As All Good Things Do), but I could be wrong.
Yes yes YES. Love this. Must hunt down full story. That definitely has the flavor of every newsroom I've ever worked in. And Lois and Clark are functioning as partners - it's a beautiful thing to see. I may cry. *sniff*
That's pretty much all the newsroom stuff. The rest is "Villain Confronts JLA With Worst Fears" boilerplate.

That is a creepy smile, devoid of soul.
THIS is what we need more of: the Goddamn Lois Lane :D
Can we get Ellis on a Superman title, long-term?
So I'm not familiar with Perry White, is he supposed to be Grimdark!J. Jonah Jameson?
Man, do I love Lois/Clark. Regarding Lois and Clark and the Dynamic Duo and kinkiness, they've gone to a party together as Batman (Clark) and Robin (Lois). Yes, Lois in the Dick-era Robin shortpants. Do you ever think that the Lane-Kent's sex life must be reaaaaalllly kinky? The man flies around in a spandex suit after all.Yes, yes I do.(I saw the purple mug with the dark coffee in it and immediately thought "Spoiler!" Why?) I just love stories that show how well Lois and Clark work together. They just do. Thanks for posting this!
Who wrote this dialogue? It's hysterical.
I love this. I think Ellis does good justice to married couples still being spicy.
However, you can tell it's him without a clue-by-four. The sudden segue into Transmet? Tisk tisk.
Yeah, even if I didn't know Ellis wrote this it would have been obvious from the fact that Perry sounds almost exactly like Royce from Transmetropolitan, sans genitalia or scatalogical references.
You didn't screw up the cut, and that is freakin' adorable. That's the Lois Lane that deserves a Superman -- and more, deserves a Clark Kent.
<3 Lois, I'll have to go buy this. What's it collected in?
I didn't notice it was Ellis, because I skipped the Perry bits when it started to sound not-like Lois & Clark Perry.
I liked the reporting, partners bits a lot though! But I just can't get used to a Lois who isn't Teri Hatcher. I just can't! :[
These two are so awesome--I wish I wasn't so distracted by Lois' ridiculous outfit. Seriously, who came up with that and why did nobody stop them?
Yeah, I've always loved the L/C pairing (speaking of which, I need to get me an icon of them- I have the space here, after all).
I have been incredibly slow to realize this, but I am completely in love with this pairing, when it's written like this. If there are comics solely about Lois and Clark and the Daily Planet, I need to hunt them down and devour them.
So much love for this whole story-- heck, I even like Perry's snarky threats. Clois forever!
I loved the Clark/Lois parts of this arc, including the follow-up dinner scene with them discussing the case. I didn't like the over-arcing problem nearly as much unfortunately.

Oh god, the snark, the love, the easy going joking between two loving, married people... I nearly bust my sides.
In short... *ahem* SEE THIS, Marvel?! See what happens when you have good writers writing a married couple? It makes them interesting and fun and CUTE!!!
*snort* "Did you keep the bicycle shorts?" Oh god, Lois, you're so full of win.
"We live to type another day" Is that seriously all Lois does? :winks: |
