...this scene always kinda bugged me. It didn't seem like Rachel to give up that easily, particularly when Emma trotted out that "you are not my equal" line. Damn right, she's better. Rachel did some pretty awesome stuff pre-Phoenix, including going toe to toe with Selene, who is much older and more expirenced than, well, everyone. She founded a rebellion/religious order in a dystopian future, managed to send Kitty/Kate's mind across time, and spent a fair amount of time defending England. People seem to forget that Rachel is more than just Jean Jr. On the other hand, it was a cool dissection of the relationship between the two of them and the art is really nice.

...I really do like Emma Frost. She is one of my favorite characters when she isn't butting heads with the Greys.

Rachel's power levels go up and down like an elevator, in this version she had brute force, but no subtlety with her TK... for some reason.

Rachel circa her time in Excalibur, maybe when she'd the benefit of the Cross-Time Caper and a decent chunk of the Phoenix Force.

But since Cable defeated ApocyLips and fucked up the time line, she came back younger and no where near as capable.

I was going to run down the fetishes, but then I realized that literally every frame of this sequence takes place in a bubble bath and thought to myself "Forget it, Jake, it's Claremonttown."

You know, Emma actually does look pretty attractive as a BBW. That costume looks as if it was designed for someone with a gut.

I figured the fight was Emma's expierence and skills against Rachel's raw power.

True. But that's why Emma should never say Rachel will never be her equal. Rachel is Jean's daughter and her power SHOULD BE off the charts. Emma was no match for Jean. With training and experience Rachel should be able to beat her.

And to be honest, I always understood Rachel's anger here. I wish there was still at least one prominent X-Man who didn't trust Emma (not counting the Cabal nonsense) because even if no one expects Emma to go all EVIL again, the stuff with her and Scott and Jean was not cool and was wrong. Scott, tool that he is, got all emo about it, but Emma didn't even bother to play guilty. Right or wrong, Rachel's anger at Emma is understandable (I wish it had continued too).

What the heck? Ray's got way better training than this, way more experience than Emma, and has ten times the willpower.

Unless I missed some time she spent dead for tax reasons, there is something horribly wrong between the Ray I saw when Alan Davis was writing Excalibur and this easily-pushed-around person.

Not sure about the willpower part. Ray's not immune to telepathic attack and influence at the hands of a skilled telepath. She was brainwashed into being a hound and this sequence came shortly after she'd been rescued from Elias Bogan, who had also controlled her. And hey, after this? Mind controlled again. It's not a flawless track record.

Children of the X-Men, using their incredible powers to play weird ASS mind games in other people heads, leaving horrible mental traumas that would scar them for life, all because they are made.

Seriously. This seems like a perfect reason not trust mutants. I mean, I know this a fight between mutants, but can't say the same thing can happen with a normal person. TA least things turn out well at the end, but can the same be said between anyone else besides Emma and Rach?
