Frank Miller Holy Terror parody
In a way, Frank Miller has become a parody of himself so the label is almost superfluous.

Anyway, to you lucky few who have never heard of it, some years back Miller outlined his idea for a propaganda comic which was essentially Batman vs. Osama bin Laden, Holy Terror, Batman!. Yes, take a moment to goggle. You see what I meant about self-parody? It's not even fish in a barrel territory, it's more like the fish gutted itself, rolled around in lemon juice and butter then flopped into the frying pan. But dear god, when a guy sets himself up like this he's just begging the Internet to take a whack. I was going to save this parody for the new digs but I thought I'd say goodbye to 2.0 with my first ever post.

It took me years to find this sumbitch again but posting it was clearly a categorical imperative. Kant himself would have agreed with me. I have no idea who made it save for a nom de plume (Mr. Quill) and a now-defunct link thankfully archived on the Internet Archive.

Oh, and for legality, a page from one of my favourite webcomics, Gunnerkrig Court:

I swear, I was totally reading it long before Neil Gaiman got everyone else on the bandwagon. Oh, and to save you Googling time, the sentence up top says in Latin, "Pray, read, reread, work and you will find [it]" - advice for budding or exhausted alchemists.

I think the self-parody thing is just something Frank Miller fans are clinging on to. The guy has lost it.

Seconded. Every time I hear that defense, I think of Pee-Wee Herman saying I MEANT TO DO THAT.

He probably keeps the finished manuscript in his bedside drawer because as of yet, DC's had the good sense not to touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Wasn't there an actual Batman Elseworlds called Holy Terror, with the big what-if being if Oliver Cromwell had lived a few more years and his rule of Britain and it's colonies turned them into a police states, or some such nonsense?

Bruce was a minister, Zatanna was a turncoat, and what would have been the JLA did NOT end well.

He always seemed terribly amused by his own wit on that one.

Irrespective of whether this is disrespectful to the actual people dying in said conflicts...

...when you think of this happening in a combined Universe, the Bat-clan alone has the resources to deal with this crap in about ten seconds. Once you involve the JLA, or hell, just a quick call to Clark, and this would be a really *short* comic.

And despite all that...

...it's still better than Doctor Doom crying over the WTC. Eugh.
