Yet another jab to the fans of the Spider-Marriage from the "Brain Trust"...
...only this time it's from Hercules' "Assault on New Olympus" story.

This was written by Fred Van Lente, who I hopefully don't have to introduce given his history here.

Honestly. On one hand, the attitude is just, "Get over it!" and the on the other hand they like throwing salt on the wound with these little jabs to the fans.

To be fair dude if your Aunt set you up on a date with a homeless person it'd be kinda strange

Well Aunt May works at a homeless shelter. It's not any different than any other "I met the nicest girl at work today, wink wink" matchmaking aunt scenario.

If you look at what he says he says "set up with homeless people", not a woman who works there. There's a significant difference (maybe to just me) between your aunt setting you up with a cute secretary and a homeless woman she met at the shelter.

She's still presumably someone Aunt May talks to and interacts with and knows to a certain degree, as opposed to something like going up to random strangers on the street and asking them to go out with her nephew.

Considering how many times Peter has failed to make rent and nearly been kicked out on his ass (hasn't he been evicted at least once?) I would think he would be more sensitive to homelessness than he comes off here.

I mean, complaining about his bad luck when he's about to meet someone who has it much worse is, uh...real nice, Spidey.
