The way I look at it, it's the rest of the universe that views him as the God of Evil, and he's perfectly willing for people to call him that, but he scorns such paltry qualifications. It's been established that he KNOWS he's evil, and is perfectly comfortable with the concept, but is he the actual God of Evil? Bah! Darkseid could care less what people call him! He is DARKSEID! As long as he's still the scourge of the galaxy, who cares if he's got a redeeming quality or two? Hitler was nice to his secretaries, but that didn't make him any less evil or crazy.
