Ohnoshark!
I was reading this manga the other day, and I feel like I just have to share.

3 pages from Junji Ito's Gyo under the cut. It might be a spoiler, although it happens fairly early on in the series. As it's manga, panels read from right to left.

In Japan, fish have inexplicably grown legs and are running amok. Also, sometimes your significant other may have unreasonable expectations of you!

Remember folks, this is the same author who wrote Uzumaki and that Frankenstein adaptation we've seen posted here recently.

And this is freaking me the FUCK OUT.

"And this is freaking me the FUCK OUT."

Really? I can't stop laughing at it! There's a shark.... IN YOUR HOUSE!

That thing doesn't have legs.

It has tentacles.

No, it has legs. Big, metal, vaguely insectoid legs.

Actually, it has both! The tentacles are attached to it's gills, the spindly leg things allow them to move around. Although they're more like tubes.

YES. That sketch keeps running through my head whenever I read this damn manga. Hard to be properly horrified when you're giggling maniacally.

"You're the undead mechanical shark and you know it!"

"Ah, I, I'm only an undead mechanical dolphin, ma'am."

"An undead mechanical dolphin? Well, okay."

Just a regular img source tag to where the pic is saved in photobucket.

Actually. Gyo is Ito's idea of the best B-movie ever. Whatever works as long as you appreciate walking fish.

Just wait till the shark chases a tank in a scene that might as well be put to Yakity Sax.

Honestly though, and I hate to say it, but I can't have much sympathy for Kaori, considering how much of a bitch she'd was before she became a bloated stink ball in a spider machine.

I mean look at that, she's yelling at her boyfriend for not fighting a fucking shark. A shark on legs

I mean that's bitchery on the level of the girlfriend from Hobgoblins.

Meh, she's being chased through a building by a shark on legs. Under the circumstances, I can understand an irrational panicked response due to stress, and I'm inclined to give her the benefit of a doubt. Because, dude, shark on legs.

Having read nothing else of this manga, of course, I have no idea if she's like that when not in imminent danger of being eaten.

Well, Kaori's whole hang up is about her sensitive nose; she freaks out around anything that smells bad, and insists that her boyfriend keep taking showers and crap.

Which really sucks for her, since the big gimmick of these monsters is the gas they produce that powers their spider legs stinks to high heaven.

At this point in the story, it's unknown - all anyone knows is that there are fish (stinky, stinky fish) walking on land.

No, its the farting disease that makes you fat and bloated and pimple covered, then paralyzes you, then one of those empty spider leg things picks you up and uses you as a power source to move around.
