Did he just traced Ironman from a Ironman movie dvd? that sure does look like the movie. What up with Norman face, resemble movie Norman but with the cornrows.

What on earth is going on with Spider-Woman? She's just a floating torso. Also, her eyes are too far apart.

Who is the blonde in the white with the black jacket and mask? Emma's never worn a mask, right, and it's totally wrong for Dagger. Mockingbird, maybe?

So let's see. We have odd (and far too similar) facial expressions, people who are just floating torsos, Spider-Man climbing off Ms Marvel's boobs, an Iron Man that was traced straight off the DVD cover, and President Obama as Norman Osborn.

Land is like a fine wine. He only gets better with age. Except the exact opposite of that.

Seriously, WHY is Land still getting work?! This is lazy as all hell.

He's reaching Liefeld levels of bad.

I don't have a problem, necessarily, with the fact that Spider-Woman has no legs.

I DO have a problem with the fact that she is missing most of her internal organs. Look at that torso. LOOK at it. It's barely twice the width of her ARMS. Look at the armpit, how the line of her body goes sharply inwards instead of down, in order to taper that much. Above the bust-line, she's almost human, except for the fact that her boobs are fake. Below it... good god, the longer you look at that torso the more it makes your eyes bleed.

And she's NAKED. That's not a costume, that's body paint. Her breasts are separate, but it goes beyond boob-socks. Look, you can make out the details of a nipple and areola on her right breast. And her navel is clearly visible. That wouldn't happen on even the tightest spandex.

And I have GOT to stop looking at that torso. Nnnnrgh. Y-SHAPED. How could ANYONE, even Land, look at that and think "yeah, that looks okay?" How could anyone willingly sign their name on it?

Well, at least we can be fairly certain that that part wasn't traced. Unless it was badly Photoshopped. Very badly. Like, a Ralph Lauren ad or something.

So I went ahead and checked the picture of Osborn against the picture of Obama and this is what I got:



A few interesting things about this;

1) Land does draw a little bit more than we give him credit for. The face and pose are subtly changed, mostly for the better. It's very interesting to see what he thinks of as "menacing" in the face -- he lowers the upper lip, curls the brow, hardens up the right side of the brow and nose.

2) It's interesting that he interprets evil as having a larger upper body; with most artists I'd say that's no big deal, but when it's on the same page as the Y-shaped Spiderwoman torso I believe we can legitimately wonder. I also suspect Land might be one of those artists who dislike drawing hands -- he's taken a lot of short-cuts to get out of it here, especially Spidertorso who looks like she has turkey basters at the end of her arms. The Spider-Man hand pose is classic and could very easily be traced.

3) Are they really trying to equate Obama to Osborn?
