Periods had a bad habit of not getting printed correctly in older comics; if the bottom dot of ! or ? doesn't print you can still infer that it's puncutation.

the one problem with this story is the drawing of the kids. I'm sure they're meant to be okay kids who were just pushed beyond their limits, plus they were protecting the one person who treated them decent.

But some of the panels have them looking like psychopathic monsters.
