JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #41

The team regroups with a new roster that will transcend time and space! Make way for the World’s Greatest Heroes – Batman, Green Lantern, the Atom, Green Arrow, Donna Troy, the Guardian, Cyborg, Mon-El, Starfire, Dr. Light and, yes, Congorilla!
This issue features two covers by Mark Bagley which are seperately orderable. Cover A features Green Lantern and Green Arrow; Cover B features Batman and Mon-El. The cover images will be revealed online before the issue’s Final Order Cutoff date.
On sale January 20 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US

If any of those people are the greatest heroes in the DCU, then it's pretty safe to say that the DCU has gone way downhill. I can think of at least ten people who could kick most of the butts on that list. I'm mostly okay with this line-up, but calling them the DCU's best is just false advertising.

JSA ALL-STARS #2
Written by Matthew Sturges;
co-feature written by Jen Van Meter
Art and cover by Freddie Williams II;
co-feature art by Travis Moore & Dan Green
In “Constellations,” part 1, The All-Stars have survived their first major battle, but in the aftermath, one team member is missing without a trace. The mysterious Strike Force has that member captive, but there’s someone else who wants the missing All-Star even worse than Strike Force does. Plus, the rift between Power Girl and Magog widens.
And in the first chapter of a new co-feature, Liberty Belle and Hourman embark on a worldwide hunt for a mysterious book – and the killer who may be after the secrets held within it! Icicle and Tigress aren’t responsible for the murder, but they just might hold some keys to solving the mystery!
On sale January 6 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US

Tell me I'm not the only one very excited about the Liberty Belle/Hourman cofeature.

I'm more of an outsider looking

Since you're obviously not communicating with anyone or expecting replies to your idiocyideas.

Sorry, no. You're a part of this community the moment you click "post comment." It doesn't matter whether you consider yourself an outsider or not. Chatting with people outside of the community isn't a requirement (for an example, I have done so less than 5 times since joining the deleted community). What is? Piping up.

I mean, pop question: do you consider yourself a human being, or merely an "outsider looking in"?

Answer: It doesn't matter what you consider yourself. You're a human being, or a sufficiently convincing simulacrum, merely by showing up. This "oh, I can say whatever I want, without consequence" is bullshit, and DOUBLE BULLSHIT for going "I can do so because I'm not a part of your 'clique,' I hold myself apart from 'you lot.'" It makes you look like an elitist moron, for one thing, it makes you look like a hypocrite, for another, and it makes you look like a kid grasping for attention among a group of people and then turning around and going "I don't care what they think. Nmph nmph nmph." Grow up.

An insult without provocation, how quaint.

Your comparison is odd. Of course I am a human being, I don't really have a choice in that matter.

Clicking "post comment" doesn't make me a part of this community. Belonging to a social group is not as black and white as your belonging to the human race rant. If I were to use that logic in the real world sitting in a church would make me a Christian because I am sitting in a church with other Christians so that makes me a part of their community.

You know, a lot of people may consider you treating the community as some sort of hivemind ('you guys' as opposed to the more balanced 'some of you guys') insulting, or at least not very nice. Often people object to sweeping generalizations (pardon me while I also generalize). There is some provocation there, though I don't necessarily feel that it warrants some of the more hostile responses you're getting.

No one is innocent!

Right. No provocation. Riiiiiiight.

Your comparison is odd. Of course I am a human being, I don't really have a choice in that matter.

You do have a choice about communicating here.

Clicking "post comment" doesn't make me a part of this community.

Yes it does. This is not an argument. You are communicating with a those in social group. You become part of that group.

If I were to use that logic in the real world sitting in a church would make me a Christian because I am sitting in a church with other Christians so that makes me a part of their community.

First of all, not all churches are Christian. Secondly, if you behave like another church-goer (doing like what they do, singing along to hymns, engaging other church-goers in conversation, etc) it wouldn't be an unreasonably assumption that you really are a duck.

Just sitting in the pews wouldn't be enough. But that's not what you're doing here, and the more you argue about it, the less rational you seem.

How have I provoked you to insult me?

And yes I have a choice when it comes to posting her, thank you for pointing out the obvious, but it does not make me me a member of your community.

Also, thank you for putting words in my mouth. I used Christianity as an example. Nowhere in my post did I say all churches are Christian.

And no, merely communicating with people in a social group does make you a member. I have friends who Christian, Conservative, Liberal, Jewish, etc. and merely talking to them does not make me a Christian Conservative Liberal Jew.

The more I argue about it the less rational I seem? That's ironic coming from someone who throws insults to stress whatever their point may be.

How have I provoked you to insult me?

It's not surprising you fail to grasp it.

. . .

This also doesn't surprise me.

Here's a hint: Are you conversing with your religiously diverse friends where they gather to worship?

Are you conversing with US where WE GATHER TO DISCUSS COMICS???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

So in order to discuss comics, which is what I was doing, I have to agree with your opinion?

???

No.

However, when you come to a community where we discuss comics, discuss comics at the community, and then claim you're not a part of that community, you sound like fool.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; but whatever. You've already started moving the goalposts, like a good wittle trolley-woally, so I'm done with you.

I'm fairly sure when you were joining scans daily you had to click a "join community" option back on livejournal, and something equivalent over here.

You're part of the community, you're just a part that thinks he's better than everyone else, and enjoys saying so whenever possible.

What does one actually DO to become a member of the community as YOU define it?

One must be accepted, know people within the community, and converse with them in a civil manner.

Since I am only accepted in the technical sense that I clicked a button, do not actually know anyone within the community, and nobody ever seems to respond to one of my posts in a civil manner...

...and nobody ever seems to respond to one of my posts in a civil manner...

I don't know, I feel as if you've been a 'member' of this community for a while (it's possible that I'm mistaking you for someone else due to the icon?), and I don't recall associating your name with wank and hostility flareups until quite recently (like...in the last few days). Obviously you know how you interact with the community better than I do, but is it REALLY so bad that you feel that NO ONE is willing to converse civilly with you? I'm honestly sorry if you feel that way. I've always felt relatively comfortable expressing unpopular opinions, it's gotta suck to feel as if you can't voice an unpopular sentiment without being jumped on.

Your definition of what makes a community member is clearly much more strict than mine (since all I figure you have to do is click 'join' and post semi-regularly). Oh well.

I cannot recall ever posting something simple like my original comment, and not having it turn into a shitstorm of people shoving words in my mouth and insulting me.

The one that sticks out in my memory the most was a comment I made stating I believe Xavin from the Runaways is more of a pansexual since he/she doesn't really have a set gender. Afterward I was accused of being homophobic, racist, and hateful.

Ah, I can see how that would be unpleasant. Though to be fair, Xavin's sexual/gender identity is a pretty tetchy topic. It's not simple in the least, and people can be understandably invested in discussions of gender identity.

Not that it excuses hateful language.

In any case, thank you for explaining why it is you don't consider yourself a member of the community.
