Mister Miracle #6
Since it's an issue with a bit of Barda action, the rest of this scene and more.

It starts with the Funky Flashman showing up looking for Scott, yet Scott isn't home so he gets Barda.

After that Scott arrives and Barda's pretty much 'I'm over this, I'm off to take a bath'.

So Barda explains that the Female Furies are coming for them and while there would be two more to face she tells Scott not to worry about it, rightfully so...

So things end up fine for our heroes though the same can't be said for the Funky Flashman's assistant(who gets tossed at the Furies when they show up).

Oh and the issue is 24 pages.

The 70s were a wacky time, man.

It may help to remind folks that Funky Flashman, huckster extraordinaire, was Kirby's parody of Stan Lee (with Roy Thomas as his sidekick).

So Funky Fashman existed before SSoSV ???

He was a Mister Miracle villain originally, and Kirby's parody of Stan Lee. his servant, "Royboy," is Roy Thomas.

Barda and Scott are the only New Gods I actually miss and wouldn't mind popping back up right away in the DCU.

Knockout? I always liked her. Barda without honor or really any interest in being 'good' at all. Not great as a standalone character, but as someone who's _not_ the lead in a series, she's fantastic. Just what Superboy needed.

I wouldn't mind seeing Knockout later but right now I'm interested in seeing the relationship Scandal's got going with the Knockout lookalike stripper in Secret Six develop. Bringing Knockout back right away would throw that for a loop.

Oh, Barda. But for a teaspoonful of your bath water, I would brave the Fire Pits of Apokolips itself.

Supposedly, after finishing the pencils for this issue, Kirby realized he was a page short. He asked his assistant, Mark Evanier, if he had any ideas for a one-page scene that could be inserted into the story. Evanier, knowing a golden opportunity when he saw one, said, "How about Barda taking a bath?" And the rest is history.

Why didn't Barda summon her armour when she knew the Furies were lurking?
