And for legality:

I don't hate this yet, but looking at her transferring onto that shower stool, I have to wonder if the artists understands physics. She's pushing up on the stool with her right arm, up-and-back against the sink with her left arm, and has no bracing from her legs: she should be pitching backwards in that scene. I also question why she didn't get a wheelchair accessible apartment?

"I'll mod the bathroom when I have time," is kind of weak because you have to finish that sentence with, "In the meantime, I'll drag my naked body across the floor."

I think we'd have missed the taking off of the underwear panel, but you know, Dick does a lot of shower scenes, and some of the ones I know of are at least moderately comparable in fanservice.

I think it's a bit over the top, the closed eyes and shower head, but, you know, six of one, half dozen of another. She doesn't get locked out of her apartment in nothing but a towel that's just barely hanging on, and sometimes that does happen to Dick.

Sure, it IS fanservice-y, but I don't, personally see it as particularly exploitive because she's a woman.

What I see as ... What I see as wrong, wrong, wrong, is the idea that this oh so important, incredibly strong, longstanding part of the Batverse isn't more involved IN the Batverse.

I resent a lot of the things they do (and am worried they may do!!) to Babs, but this shower scene doesn't bother me at all compared to how much I resent the complete ignoring of the fact that she has a longstanding, very, very important relationship with both Bruce and Dick. That bothers me very, very much. Very.

It's probably too much to hope for, but could we get at least one of the Gordons written consistently (re: Batman grief and Batman replacement issues) throughout the books. As I think SisterMagpie pointed out re: Battle for the Cowl, it's not like these books are terribly time-consuming to read. And as I'll point out, these characters have existed for decades. Why nothing close to a consistent vision among books?

I don't know why someone as together as her doesn't have a better modified apartment, but that could just be me.

Agreed. Oh, and I just realized...it's been a month since I sent my letters to DC...

What gets me, is that at this point Babs and her Dad could have a serious discussion about strategy in dealing with the state of Gotham right now. For Commissioner Gordon, Oracle could theoretically be his new Batman. She can fill him in on all that's being done, and she's positioned to be the link between all the various capes at work there right now and the GCPD, so the two can coordinate everyone's efforts to the best possible effect.

5 bucks says the writer forgot that Gordon knows about Oracle.

Or never read that story in the first place. Or they're just happily retconning it out, like so many other important little details of Barbara's life...

Which means they're not just disrespecting Babs, but Jim, too!
At least they're being consistent...

mutter mutter groan

1. That's a brilliant idea. Gordon already knows what kind of an asset Barbara's intel skills can be from the NML year, and that was before she (uh) came out of the Bat-closet. Now more than ever, you'd think he'd deputize her or something.

2. That's a brilliant idea, so obviously it'd kill many small children if DC implemented it.

No response yet, I guess? I got one to my email, none yet to my letter. But even the email response took a while, which really isn't surprising. Also, we might not get responses at all, and yet it can't hurt, I figure...

Yeah, nada.

I didn't think to include an e-mail address in my letter. I figured having an actually physical letter that might sit on someone's desk would be more likely to be noticed, but I could be wrong.

That being said, they have been going to a lot of conventions and such, so perhaps slow/no response is justified on their part. I just hope they were read by someone, is all.

I agree that physical, paper letters are probably more powerful.

That would only be the most exciting, incredible idea ever.

Seriously wonderful. It would.

It's a shame, what we're getting instead.

Yeah, this. It's fanservice, but you could replace Babs with Dick and not ring any alarms.
