While I haven't been in that topic exclusively (But believe me, it bothers me just as much), I have been questioning Batman's intent on what possible outcome his actions would have had and how they would make things better. Unfortunately everyone concludes that Batman was passing judgement down on officer Romy and he just wanted to make her pay for shooting him. I make the point that Batman really has no right to pass judgement on these officers because they are the ones who really put their lives on the line for Gotham because many of them have already died in the line of duty. And as a good Bruce Wayne once said, they did it without wearing a mask. I also don't like how Batman would go out of his way to ensure that his villains won't get killed (despite the fact they will always escape and kill again), yet he'll use brute force against officers of the law and steal their belongings because they 'irritated' him.
