The status of Sins Past, Post-OMD

Plus one more page from #607, where we see Spidey's post-coital bliss get interrupted.

You're seriously comparing following Uncle Ben's credo of "With great power..." to illegally breaking into someone's hotel room on their wedding night to have a quick fuck? (Not to mention the whole bit of "I'm gonna come! Uhhh! Uhh! DON'T LOOK AT ME! I DON"T WANT YOU LOOKING AT ME!Uhhhhnggghh!")

Seriously?

So children should respect a dude who puts on a mask and smacks criminals around without giving them their rights due in the Constitution on the United States?

You can't be serious.

It's one thing to take down superpowered menaces that are terrorizing New York that the police can't handle and saving lives in the process.

I mean Christ, can you imagine if Joey Q said this, "Well, yes, Spider-Man breaking into a hotel room to have sex is illegal. Hut hey, it's illegal to fight Dr. Octopus without giving him his due rights. So it's the same thing, really!"

I'm baffled that I have to explain the differences here.

I'm baffled that I have to explain the differences here.

I wish I was, but there's an entire mentality out there in modern fandom that says that all character flaws and legal transgressions are morally equivalent, so there's no difference between the fact that Peter Parker originally made mistakes as a result of trying to take on TOO MANY responsibilities, versus his current status of making mistakes by not exercising ENOUGH responsibility.

I've literally lost count of the number of people who seem almost inherently incapable of recognizing the difference between the two.

No wonder, considering that the comics themselves keep on shoving down our throats "if you kill the Joker, you are just as bad as he is!"

The difference is that when Spidey smacks Electro, Dr. Octopus or even Juggernaut he's doing so to protect others. Others that wouldn't have any chance if they tried to face said criminals. So he potentially saves lives there that otherwise would be lost.

Here, Spidey does something for mere self gratification. And that's fine and dandy, you know? But in the process he causes discomfort and trouble to others. Others that have no way of prevent being gipped by Spiery and the Black Cat just because they were horny.

but Spider-Man isn't about responsibility! Marvel said so!
