I sincerely apologize if I made anyone uncomfortable with the hugs yesterday. I prefer to be more considerate about people's personal space. If you're anywhere near the training areas and would like a sorry for the bear hug bear claw, I've got a few dozen here. I didn't make them, but they're delicious. Donuts are next on my list of things to learn so if you prefer some other kind, throw a suggestion my way, yeah?

I don't know what came over me, since the meaning of my name has never made much of an impact on me, but I decided to do a little research on it today.

It turns out that D'Artagnan means "from Artagnan", a town in the Southwest of France.

But I am from Lupiac, in Gascony, not Artagnan. Why in the world did my parents name me this? I'm afraid I have more questions now than I did in the beginning.

Surprise, my name means clear. Really glad I spent the time looking that up instead of getting pancakes this morning. (I also looked up my middle name, but I'm not sharing that.)

Did anyone else wake up to a tarot reading a few weeks ago? I wouldn't normally give those a lot of weight, but I keep thinking about how strange Atlantis is, and I'm not sure anymore.

I never really thought much about the meaning of my name. It's just a name, right? A name I like. But it turns out Steve comes from the Greek name Στεφανος (Stephanos) and it means "crown". Funny coincidence I was wearing a crown last week.

I've always liked the fact that my name means "little/young warrior" -- Marcellus that is. Name meanings are such interesting thing if you think about it.


Also, it's Mardi Grass today. This place better throw a hell of a party or I'll be very disappointed.

Bethany, I think I'm close. What little testing I've done using the small samples of lyrium I have on hand have shown promise. Your blood contains a very pervasive biological agent, which is what you've come to know as the taint. It's stubborn and invasive, but treatable. I've attempted numerous approaches, but working with the trace amounts of lyrium combined with my nanites has shown real promise of success.

With your permission, I'd like to see about pulling in a person or two with skills in organic chemistry. I believe I can synthesize lyrium, or at least the processed version since we don't have the raw material to work with. I've narrowed down a number of properties from my tests and I fully believe we can duplicate the effects with a bit of experimentation and an infusion of your world's fade magic. Can any of your companions from your world harness the magic of the fade? If so, I would like their help as well.

I will also be communicating with the rest of the medical team as we get closer to refining the process, as a skilled team will be key to beating this. Please get back to me with any questions or feedback on my data above.

Y'all, I ain't gonna sit around lookin up the meanin of my name cause I already know I'm a damn angel here to keep ya stitched up and on yer feet. That ain't always the easiest thing to do since so many of y'all have this wild notion of gettin yer teeth kickin in on the regular, but folk like me'll always been round to take care of ya. Honest, kind of appreciate the job security.

Thinkin I need to get some kinda Doc's In or Doc's Out sign for the door. We got any decent woodworkers out there that can take care of that for me? I can pay ya a decent fee for the work, or trade in skill if ya got any ailments.

Looks like I'm going to have to do a little research on what Mardi Gras is, but I also get the feeling that Atlantis will look for any reason to through a party.

It does make one wonder though, every time there's a big bash there's always something weird going on.

Not that I'm complaining, I'll do anything that will distract me from the cold.

Today I had the strangest urge to look up the meaning of my name. Strange because I chose my name from a helmet I found in the desert of Jakku. It was part of the name of whomever it had belonged to and I liked it. So I have no idea what the whole name meant since I can't remember it all but apparently "Rey" is associated with me and my home world. So I guess my name is just another word for me.

That's rather boring.

I like the idea of craft month. I made a Mardi Gras banner for Medical. Hopefully, it will cheer up anyone stuck at the hospital tonight. I was going to make

Bethany, apparently, quite literally means "house of figs". It also has religious connotations, but as we come from a world completely different than most religions, I think the name might have different meanings in Thedas.

In fact, I'm almost certain that my parents named me after one of my mother's distant relatives to appease them. Then again my twin Carver was quite literally named after "to cut or carve". I think he would've approved.
