Current mood: mischievous
Entry tags:abraxas malfoy, charlie weasley, salazar slytherin

Purple Haze was in my brain, lately things don't seem the same, actin' funny but I don't know why...
Who: Charlie Weasley and Abraxas Malfoy, later Salazar Slytherin.
Where: Charlie’s Cabin, but who knows where they may end up!
When: Thursday Night
What: A get together Charlie and Abraxas had been planning for a while.
Rating: NC-17
Complete: No.

'scuse me while I kiss the sky.
The sweet psychedelic groove of the music filled the cabin as Charlie shuffled around, busying himself with tidying the place up.

There were a few things to do, like making sure to place his few breakables inside of a locked cabinet, in case they got a bit rowdy. With a bit too much spirits and well his other supplies, anything he figured was possible. He put a few things lying around away with a quick packing spell, and washed up a few dishes, using a kitchen charm he learned from his mother. All in all it didn’t take long, but it needed to be done. It was just a mate stopping by, but that didn’t mean he wanted to come off as a total slob. He may live in a glorified shack in the woods, but there was no reason why it should look like a dump.

He stacked a pile of albums next to the CD player, anything and everything he could think to add; pretty much anything falling between 1965-75, currently playing was Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced?

He sat down with an ice cold bottle of beer, taking a sip as he tapped his fingers on the arm rest of his chair. He considered putting on something he could play along with on his acoustic, but decided against it. He was too relaxed, reclining in his chair to bother.

Everything was set, the booze was ready, with a chilling charm placed on them to keep the drinks cool, he had a few packs of smokes, and the mushrooms he picked were dried, in case they decided to be a bit bold. It was time now to just sit back, relax and wait for his company to arrive.

Abraxas spotted Charlie's cabin in the distance and picked up his pace. He was looking forward to the evening. The thought of it was enough to make him grin. In life, he would never have socialized with a Weasley, let alone one who lived in such a rustic home. But that was one of the best things about this place. All the old shit was done with and, if you wanted to make the most of the afterlife, needed to be dropped as quickly as possible.

He heard the music as he approached the place and grinned. Hendrix was an excellent choice, and it boded well for the evening. He whistled along with the song and knocked on the door, waiting for his host to answer.

At the sound of the knock on the door, Charlie rose to his feet and made his way to the front door. He opened it with a grin, finding Abraxas waiting on the other side. “I was hoping you would show up soon,” he said as he held up his bottle of beer. “I didn’t want to get to much of a head start,” he said with a laugh as his tipped his bottle in a mock cheer toward Abraxas, before taking another sip. He moved back from the doorway, and gestured for his friend to come inside.

Abraxas strode inside, holding up the pair of he held in his hands. "I brought some beer too. Couldn't have you supplying all the party favours."

Charlie's home was just as rugged as the wizard himself, with no fancy decorations or furnishings, a functional, comfortable place. The perfect site to start an entertaining evening. Abraxas made his way over to one of the wooden chairs, placed the boxes of beer on the floor, took a seat, and opened one of the bottles of beer he'd brought.

"Cheers to your great taste in music," he said with a grin, taking a sip of the brew.

Charlie laughed out loud. “Glad to see you didn’t come empty handed,” he said as he walked across the room and took a seat across from Abraxas.

“I figured you would approve of the tunes. There is a stack of CD’s to pick from, you should be able to find anything you want in it. 1965-75, the best of rock if you ask my humble opinion,” he said as he took a large sip of his beer.

Abraxas set his beer bottle down and headed over to the stack of music. He browsed through the titles and finally settled on one, which he placed into the CD player. It started to play:

Let me take you to the movies.
Can I take you to the show?
Let me be yours ever truly.
Can I make your garden grow?

From the houses of the holy, we can watch the white doves go.
From the door comes Satan's daughter, and it only goes to show.
You know.

"I have to agree with you there," he said, resuming his seat and taking another drink of beer. "I don't think there'll ever be such a time again in the history of rock. It was the pinnacle."

“I should have known you would be a Zeppelin fan,” Charlie said as he picked up his pack of fags off the coffee table, and lit one up before tossing the pack back down on the table.

There's an angel on my shoulder, In my hand a sword of gold.
Let me wander in your garden. And the seeds of love I'll sow. You know.

So the world is spinning faster. Are you dizzy when you're stoned.
Let the music be your master. Will you heed the master's call
Oh... Satan and man.

“I’m just glad you didn’t pick Led Zeppelin four. As much as I love that album, its too much of an obvious choice eh?” he said with a wry grin. He placed his now empty bottle on the table, and reached over to pick up a new bottle of beer. “Best to down a few of these first before we start in on those,” he said as he gestured to the little baggy on the table. “I told you I found something interesting growing up here.”

"'Four' is great, but too overplayed. It's better to go off the beaten path every now and then. I'm all for adventure." Abraxas lit one of Charlie's cigarettes and blew a puff of smoke. He looked over at the little bag on the table, then back at Charlie.

"You're sure those things aren't poisonous, right?" he asked, cocking one eyebrow. "Not that we can die here, of course, but I'd rather not have to deal with a bad bout of stomach cramps if I can help it."

“Definitely not poisonous, that’s a fallacy mate. But if you eat too many you can get nasty nausea, and a hangover,” he said as his knock the ash of his smoke off into the empty beer bottle on the table. “Less toxic then muggle Asprin actually. Ever try em before? Or are you a cherry this evening?” he said with a laugh.

Abraxas laughed. "Actually yes. I've tried a lot of things, but never of the fungal variety I never know the ones to pick, and I'd rather take advantage of someone else's expertise, if you know what I'm saying."

“Ah then, I’m the guide on the magical mystery tour then,” Charlie said laughing. “No worries, I know what I’m at, you however I’ll have to keep an eye on. Who knows what a stoned Malfoy may do,” he said jovially as he swallowed another mouthful of beer.

“How’s the musical life been treating you?”

"It'll be an interesting trip, that's for sure," said Abraxas, raising his bottle to Charlie in a toast. "If I remember enough of it, maybe I'll immortalize it in song. Or a painting. Who knows? Artistic talent has to be good for something."

Charlie raised his beer and tapped it against Abraxas’ bottle, before taking another sip. "Be sure to try writing or painting afterwards, if we try once we are a bit off, it will likely be rubbish. All the same I have my journal handy, in case I feel the need to write something down. Should a right laugh to read after the fact.”

"Definitely." The combination of music and alcohol was making Abraxas very relaxed, and he settled into his seat, placing his ankle on the opposite knee. "Granted, if we hang around here too long, it may get too comfortable to leave."

"Not getting sleepy on me are you?" Charlie said as he reached forward, picked up the baggy of dried mushrooms on the table, and tossed it to Abraxas. "This should wake you up. Not too much now, its a half and half sort of deal. Too much will make you sick I wager, and will last far longer then we would like," he explained.

Reaching out, Abraxas caught the baggy and looked at it for a moment. Was he really sure he wanted to do this, ingest something Charlie had found on his meanderings through the woods? Then again, it was a new experience, and what was the point of having eternity before you if you didn't do something to shake it up and break out of old patterns?

He managed to handle the bag in his open hand, and plucked out a couple of the dried pieces. "What about this?" he asked, holding them up to Charlie for his approval.

Charlie leaned back in his seat with a fresh drink, and watched Abraxas eyeing the baggy, before dumping a few pieces into his hand.

"Its a start, don't worry about it mate. What's the worst that can happen? Bad tripping is unlikely, were in a comfortable place, good frame of mind. If it helps any, I weighed it out, gram for you, gram for me."

"Well, if that's the case," said Abraxas, measuring out a suitable amount in his palm. He smiled up at Charlie. "Bon appetit."

He popped the mushroom pieces into his mouth and chewed them, washing down the taste with another mouthful of beer. "Well, that wasn't to bad. So, how long does it take for the effects to kick in?"

"About 30 to 60 minutes. Sometimes longer, but since we are drinking I'm thinking earlier rather then later," he explained as he reached over and took his share of the party supplies. Like Abraxas, he chased the mushrooms down with a large mouthful of beer.

"Now just to lay back, take it easy, and wait for it to happen. Think we may venture outside once things start to get interesting?"

"Definitely," said Abraxas, settling more into his chair. "There won't be much point in just staying around here, I don't think. The trip might be more engaging if we're interacting with the great outdoors when it fully kicks in."

The situation was beyond hilarious for Abraxas. The idea of being in a cabin with a Weasley, happily imbibing alcohol and other mind-altering substances as if they'd been the best of friends for years proved what a trippy place this afterlife actually was. If the deceased allowed themselves to break out of the patterns that had bound them in life.

"So, what have you been doing to keep yourself busy, other than tending to a Founders livestock?" he asked.

Charlie picked up a new bottle of beer, opened it, tossing the bottle cap down on the table. It was funny, he thought to himself, that himself and Abraxas got along so well. In life no doubt such a thing never would have occurred, certainly not with a Weasley and a Malfoy.

“That in and of itself takes up a lot of time. Also I’ve been tending to the dragons. I guess some things from your past life, you really can’t get out of the habit of doing,” he said laughing. “Oh yeah, and I went swimming with Parvati the other day,” he added with a wink.

"Oh, did you now?" Abraxas asked. He drew another drag off the cigarette and grinned wolfishly. "And now did you luck into that? She's a definite beauty, and I'd give my eye teeth to see her get wet." He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

Charlie laughed. "I'm not sure how I managed it, dumb luck I think," he said as he picked up a fresh cigarette. He paused for a moment as he lit it, as if mesmerized by the flame. "Bloody gorgeous that one is."

He felt a tingling sensation of energy, coursing through his body, and started to tap his foot to the music. He felt heavy, as if his body had suddenly grown roots. He leaned back in his chair, laughing slightly, at nothing in particular.

"That she is," Abraxas agreed.

Charlie's laugh made him giggle, but he started to feel a bit anxious, as if he didn't know what to do with himself. It was strange, fuzzy and tingly at the same time. He tapped his fingers on his thigh to try and burn off some of the feeling.

The feeling was almost overwhelming, and as much as he wanted to sit still, he had to give in and force himself to stand. Everything was suddenly brighter, keener, sharper then it had been before. He looked over at Abraxas, watching as he tapped his fingers, caught up for a moment in the movement, before shaking his head, as if he was pushing a thought aside, as he tried to stay focused.

“What the hell did I get up for?” he managed to mutter as he struggled for a moment trying to remember where he was going. He laughed out loud, shaking his head. “Still can’t remember,” he glanced across the room at his guitar in its stand. It seemed a mile away, though it was only a few feet away. Knowing this in the back of his mind, didn’t change the feeling that it was some impossible distance to track, to get the thing he now desired.

He pressed on, walking unusually slowly, as if every foot step counted in some greater scheme beyond his knowledge or control. When he reached his destination, he clumsily picked it up, and sat on the floor. He stared at the guitar, his prize, but more specifically at its wooden paneling, mesmerized by the texture of the grains which seem to pulsate and flow under his finger tips. For a moment he was frightened, but as soon as the emotion came it went. He strummed the strings, as if trying to remember how, before falling into a familiar pattern.

Abraxas watched Charlie walk over to the guitar, mesmerized by the movement of Charlie's feet. It was as if everything else in the room had reduced down to just that one thing, as if his entire universe was focussed on something so . . . mundane.

He listened to Charlie strum and felt the urge to sing, so he started to hum a melody line. Maybe it matched the strumming, maybe it didn't. All that mattered to Abraxas was that he was making sound.

Charlie looked up for a moment when he heard Abraxas’ voice. He wasn’t sure what song he was playing, but it was like “It’s like you pulled that song out of my head, before I was even thinking it,” he said thinking out loud. “It was, it was in my mind, and I wasn’t even sure what my hands are doing, and you just knew, you know what I mean?”

He closed his eyes for a moment as he played. He could see a kaleidescope of colors, shapes that warped, morphed and changed with the music as it flowed in tune with the sound of Abraxas’ voice. The sound of the guitar was orange and brown, but spliced with shades of shimmering purple and green, as the voice mingled with the melody.

Abraxas nodded but kept singing. His voice was the colour of thick lawn, green and shaded darker in some places, lighter in others, depending on the notes he sang. And the notes smelled like lightning and purple, the oddest thing Abraxas had ever smelled, but he liked the scent and wanted to keep smelling it, so he kept on singing.

He didn't make up words for the song, though. It didn't need them. The words were colours and smells, and the song was only one he and Charlie would ever understand.

Charlie opened his eyes, smiling as if he and Abraxas had gained some secret knowledge, a bond as he played. The music had a distinct scent, but it was beyond his comprehension. “What is that smell, the music I can’t place it mate.”

He looked down at his hands, stopping for a moment, as he held them up to look at more closely.

"Purple and lightning to me," Abraxas said. "I can't quite describe it any other way." He frowned a bit. Why couldn't he find the words? Usually, he had no problem painting accurate pictures, whether in poems or on canvas. But for some reason, his mind was speaking a truth that wouldn't connect to his tongue - except to make some odd comparisons that probably didn't make sense to Charlie.

Abraxas grinned, unsure of what else to do.

“That’s it, fucking spot on,” he said as he continued to stare at his hands. It was a marvel, the single most amazing thing he had ever seen. It was as if they were under a microscope, and every line was huge, with defined trenches in between, every detail was honed and refined.

He pulled himself away from the sight of his own hands, long enough to catch a glimpse of the unsure grin on Abraxas’ face. He started to laugh, tumbling over to the side, unable to keep his balance any longer. He wasn’t sure why it was so funny, but it was bloody hilarious.

“Don’t fall out of that chair and break your neck,” he said jokingly, while still even under the influence, was concerned about the safety of his friend. From where he lid, crumpled over on his side, the chair looked as if it was a thousand feet high. “You should get off that thing, its freaking me out,” he said still laughing.

Abraxas started to laugh when Charlie laughed. "Okay, okay," he said, climbing out of the chair. The room seemed to spin slowly when he stood up, and he had to take a step backwards to brace himself so he didn't fall on his face, but he regained his balance and looked around the cabin.

The whole place seemed more . . . alive than it did before, which set Abraxas to more laughter, since this place was the afterlife. Every objected was vibrant with a colour, scent, or sound. It made him curious to see what the rest of the world was like.

He headed for the door of the cabin. If the inside was so groovy, he could only imagine how trippy the outside world would be.

Charlie sighed a breath of relief, when he saw Abraxas climbing out of his chair. He clumsily scrambled to his feet, and made his way towards the front door. “You’re not heading out there without me,” he said as he picked up a case of beer and tucked it under his arm. “’sides your liable to get lost,” he added, trailing off.

"How can I get lost?" asked Abraxas. "We're only in the woods. Maybe the trees will give me directions." That sounded cool, so he tried to quicken his pace to get out to the forest as quickly as he could, but his gait was too sloppy to make any fast progress.

Still, he managed to leave the cabin. He stopped and stared. Everything around him seemed alive with colours, bright and dark. He grinned. "See? They'll tell me." He moved towards one particularly tall tree. "This fellow here will have something to say. I'm sure of it."

Charlie followed close in tow, clumsily closing the door behind them as they left, and headed outside. The forest seemed alive, shimmering and rippling as if it had suddently become more real. He laughed out loud, finding Abraxas's idea of be one with nature a hilarious endeavor. "Be sure to tell me what you learn," he said lazily, stumbling over his words.

Abraxas reached the tree and stared at the trunk. "Hello, my friend!" he called to it cheerfully. "I wonder if you would be so kind as to give me directions so I don't get lost out here."

He listened for a few moments, then finally heard something. Tree language was shimmery and very odd, but he was able to hear something clearly. He turned around and grinned. "The tree says we should visit the castle, wherever that is."
