marry me, he said
Who: Gellert, Teddy, Rose and anyone else who shows up.
What: Teddy and Rose are getting married with Gellert officiating!
When: Evening of November 13th.
Where: Beach, near Parvati's pub day care center.
Rating: PG at the most, it's a bunch of kids.
Complete: Nope!

Gellert consulted his book again. He needed to make sure that it was an absolutely perfect wedding! And that meant checking the book with lots of illustrations of Hindu ceremonies and his spell directory.

Big pavilion made of wood with red silk and shiny coins and tassels all over it? Check!

Music playing from shells set up around the pavilion? Check!

A pedestal covered in red velvet and with two cushions for the bride and groom to kneel on? Check!

White robes with gold decorations for himself? Check!

Matching gold rings and white ribbons? Check!

An elephant for Rose to ride on? Check!

...Now Gellert needed someone to clean up the elephant poop. Oh, wait, he could do that himself!

A wave of his hand and a carefully pronounced Banishing charm later, the beach was now free of elephant poop once more. CHECK!

There! Now all Gellert needed were the bride and groom!

Under his bare feet, the grains of sand gathered between his toes. He scrunched up his nose, looking over the list again and tried to decide if there was anything else he needed to do. The candles were all lit, golden candlesticks loaded with tall red candles that had the flames glowing white instead of yellow. He wore a black ribbon around his head, holding his curls away from his face so that he could read from the big book that he'd found with the appropriate words for ceremonies. He didn't think that he could read all of them because they were big words, some of them, but he could read enough to give a proper ceremony!

Rose hummed as she skipped down the path towards the beach. She squealed when she came around a small sand dune and saw the lavish set up. The elephant was the best part, though.

She spotted a golden haired boy standing by the pedestal and immediately ran towards him.

"Hello! Are you going to marry me and Teddy?" she chirped in excitement, nearly bouncing on the spot.

"Hi!" Gellert nearly dropped his book from excitement, instead putting it down on the beach along with his journal. "Yes, I am! Are you the beautiful blushing bride? I have your sari ready for you!"

Proudly, he gestured at one of the tables where he'd laid out the white bedsheet that he'd Transfigured into a red length of silk. It was embroidered with golden hearts and bits of mirror, the fall heavy with golden beads in swirling, heart patterns. In addition to that, there was a red satin underskirt that could be shrunk to fit, and a tiny red belly-baring t-shirt that was meant to be worn in place of a sari blouse.

A bowl full of water had flowers floating in it, strung into a little crown for her head.

"Ooh, it's beautiful!" Rose cheered and clapped her hands joyfully. "I hope it wasn't too much trouble to make, um...oh, what is your name?"

Rose felt a little guilty that she didn't bother asking for his name, and he was doing so much for her! She gave him a little peck on the cheek.

"Thank you...this is really nice!"

"My name is Gellert! What is yours?" Grinning at the kiss to his cheek, Gellert clapped his own two hands together as well, jumping on the spot cheerfully. His feet sank further down into the sand, so he had to stop jumping about and instead hug Rose sweetly, kissing her on the cheek as well.

"And it was very difficult and I am very clever to have done all of this on my own!" Clearly, Gellert had no problems with adequate self-esteem. Cheerfully wrinkling his nose at Rose, he took her hands in his and tugged her towards the sari, "Come on! Do you know how to wrap it around yourself or do I have to help? I have a book with pictures so we can try to use that to guess how to put it on you!"

"Oh, I knew a Gellert! I called him Ganesha...you can be my Ganesha too, because I don't know where he went! Well, I think I can figure it out Ganesha...but please help me? I don't want to mess it up!"

Rose inspected the flowers and found them to her liking. She was going to be pretty for once! It was very exciting. The last few days had been wonderful, to be honest. She never had so much fun, and she had never met so many nice people! She could only hope her Krishna would come...she really liked him...

"Okay!" Gellert picked up the book and showed it to her. An Indian woman and man stood proudly together in front of a house, and he jabbed his finger at the woman, "See? That's you! In front of the new home for you and your husband. So we need to wrap it around your waist, and then sort of pleat it, then wrap it around you again and put it over your shoulder!"

He touched her soft curls, "Do you want to clip that up while we put the sari on you? We can comb them out afterwards! And I magicked up lots and lots and LOTS of jewelry and shiny things for you to wear. You'll look even prettier than you look now!"

"Wow, we get a home, too? I hope Ms. Parvati will come visit me and my husband! I wonder if he comes here soon...

Yes, let's put my hair up so it'll be out of the way."

Rose touched her mass of curls in slight consternation. Her mother often fretted over it, but oddly enough the people here seemed to like it. Perhaps she really was as pretty as everyone said she was...

"I like jewelry, let's try it now!" Rose happily picked up the length of cloth.

Parvati wouldn't be a good caregiver if she didn't keep an eye on what the children were up to, especially where there was an unpredictable sea in the vicinity. Despite knowing they were in the afterlife and technically all the children were really adults, she couldn't suppress the concern that they might get hurt. So although she gave Rose permission to go, she also followed at a distance. She didn't interrupt the pair, but sat down on a nearby dune to watch, unable to stop the smile curving her lips. She remembered the fake weddings she had as a kid, dressing up in her mum's jewellery and draping sari fabric over her head.

Remus was not overly concerned by the wedding invitation Gellert left for everyone to see, but he had to see what was going on with Teddy. While being young again proved to be an interesting experience - surly, difficult roommate aside - part of him regretted not being able to be around to help with son. He would have preferred to stay a man if it meant he would be able to care for his own son as a child, a point in both of their lives that he had gravely missed.

He caught sight of Parvati seated on her own, watching over the elaborate setting, and nearly blanched when he saw the elephant. "Impressive," he said when he stepped beside Parvati. "A pleasant day to you, Parvati. Did you do all these?"

She almost jumped in surprise when Remus showed up, since the last time they spoke over the journals he was a child. However, surprise was replaced very quickly by surprise as she looked up at him. "No, I think it was Gellert's doing entirely... which is rather alarming and explains an awful lot about his life... in life," she smiled wryly. "How are you feeling, Remus? Do you remember much about what happened? You were a very sweet little boy, you know," she couldn't resist adding the last with a teasing wink.

"Gellert?" he repeated, his eyes straying to the small boy. "That is even more impressive as he is quite young.

"I am quite all right, thank you. A little confused at first, but things began to come back to me eventually after I settled at home." He couldn't help but give a slightly sheepish smile at the mention of how he was. "I believe I had been excited by so many people around me, so excuse the enthusiasm if I had ever displayed an abundance of it. An enthusiastic shy child, what a thought."

"Perhaps if he needed to use his wand then he wouldn't be able to do so much, but he's very bright," Parvati mused and then shrugged, smiling indulgently at the scene before her.

"Most children have natural enthusiasm, so it didn't bother me," Parvati assured him with a quick smile before glancing back at the kids, keeping a wary eye on the elephant. There was a slight wistfulness to her expression as she regarded Rose dressing up. She didn't recall getting married and yet as a child she'd dreamed of a wedding with all the trimmings. So watching what was essentially a childhood fantasy played out before her eyes was somewhat bittersweet.

"Princess Parvati!" Gellert wasn't sure why, but he thought that pretty woman was a princess. "Mr. Stranger! Can you please help us find Teddy? Rose has to get a groom to be married and if Teddy does not come, then I shall have to marry her myself because I am the best man!"

Behind him, he heard Shiva -- as he named the elephant -- trumpet a sound to the sky. Turning around, he beheld her stepping into the ocean, Rose still on her back, and instantly forgot about Teddy. "HEY! COME BACK! I NAMED YOU SHIVA, NOT ZEUS! AND THAT'S ROSE, NOT EUROPA!"

Oh no, he'd left his spell book back at the altar! Still, bravely, he started to run towards the elephant in the water, yelling all manner of commands to stop.

With a loud crack of apparation, Teddy, almost literally, fell from mid air, having failed to remind himself to appear on the ground. Landing hard on his butt, the blue haired young boy looked around at all the wears and felt his mouth falling open with a gawk. This looked like fun! Not some stupid adult thing he wasn't allowed to play in.

Seeing the blond boy off in the distance, and Rose (who was so pretty!) he blinked in surprise when he noticed them in the water, not paying any attention to the adults.

"Gelly! Rosey!" he squealed, pushing himself up and tearing off after them. His toy light sabor was tucked into a belt tied around his robes, and he had, remarkably, remained unsplinched during his sneaking out Apparition. Of course, he probably could have asked to come, but that would be too easy! "I wanna ride too!" Blue hair turning to pink, utterly barefoot, he ran for the water to see if he could help. Skidding to a halt on the shore, he frowned...and then instead of messing up his nice robes, he just shrugged out of them, until he was dressed in only a pair of loose pants underneath, and followed Gellert out.

"Teddy!" Gellert had gone right into the water in his robes, splashing around wetly in the water. The waves went over his head, and he coughed, yelling out as loudly as he could, "BUGABOOGALA!"

Shiva swung her trunk around and picked up Gellert as well, dropping the sopping wet boy on her back near Rose. He grabbed onto her, and laughed, pushing his wet curls away from his face, "TEDDY! Do the magic thing you did to get here and magic yourself up here!"

That way, if the elephant ran away with them, at least the bride and groom would be together and Gellert could still do the ceremony! He'd just magic up new rings, that was all.

Rose laughed and waved at her future husband.

"Yeah, come on up, Teddy! We need to get married!" She returned the hug enthusiastically, not minding the fact he was wet. She was having the time of her life!

"Where is Shiva going, I wonder?"

Teddy huffed, not too confident that he could do it again. He wasn't exactly sure where he got the knowledge to appear like that, but he was sure if he wished hard enough...

Swimming back to where he could stand, he squeezed his eyes super hard and pictured being on the elephant by Rose and Gellert. He felt his body tingle, and just as he was about to apparate, a wave smacked him in the face, knocking him back under the current.

A moment later, he was on the elephants head of all things, facing Rose and Gellert, looking like a drowned cat with how he clung on with arms and legs. Squeaking, he scurried off and over to the two of them, grinning madly and struggling not to fall off. "We're on an elephant!" he cried out.

"OKAY! Let's get you two married NOW, before Shiva starts to go underwater!" Gellert decided. If they were going to die, they had to get married first so that they wouldn't die alone!

Though Gellert would be alone. That would be sad.

Grabbing at his hair, Gellert pulled out some fine, golden curls, still wet and turned them into two golden rings very easily. He held them in the palm of his hand, fingers curled a little to stop them from falling out as Shiva took up water in her trunk and squirted it on her sides. "Do you, Teddy, take this girl Rose to be your lawfully-wedded wife, to have and to hold and to love and to honor and to protect forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever?"

He only stopped because he ran out of breath, not 'evers'.

"Okay!" Teddy stated, still out of breath from the apparition. He grinned madly to Rose and took her hand in his own, his hair turning into the happiest shades of yellow. Giggling, he felt himself blush and looked back to Gellert.

"YAY! Princess Parvati to the rescue!" Gellert waved at her wildly, "Over here! Rose needs a ride back to shore!"

Not that Gellert could really swim that far back to the shore on his own, but it was Gellert. He had a tendency to get rather overconfident about his own abilities.

As the raft approached them, Gellert took Rose's arm protectively, looking over at Teddy, "Come on! We can sit on the raft with her to make sure she does not fall overboard!"

Rose cuddled close to her Ganesha.

"Thank you very much! You're good husbands." She gave Gellert's curly blond locks a loving pat and smiled as Ms. Parvati came to their rescue.

"Ms. Parvati is really brave and daring! I definitely wouldn't have made it all the back to shore like you could have."

Parvati grinned when she caught Rose's comment as she got closer. I was put in Gryffindor House for a reason! "There's room for you all!" she didn't want Gellert or Teddy to get it into their heads that they would swim back. "Well, except for the elephant, I can't push her as well!"

Remus chuckled as he removed his own cloak and headed to the water.

"I cannot very well let you do all the work now, can I?" he told Parvati as he neared them, and he turned to the newly weds with a grin. "Good day and congratulations on your marriage. My name is Remus and I shall be your elephant to raft assistant for the day," he said in jest as he offered his arms to Rose to help her down.

"Yay! We get an elephant-to-raft assistant! It must be like an usher, only cooler!" Gellert protectively put one of his hands under Rose's elbow to help her down to the raft. Only when he was sure that she was safely down did he hop down with Teddy and Rose onto the raft. "Back to the shore, good rescuers!"

Remus checked to ensure the three were seated at the center before looking back at the elephant. Well, it was not exactly a dark creature so his expertise might or might not help, but hopefully certain principles would stay the same.

"Does the good mistress here have a name?" he asked, indicating the elephant. "I'll just return for her once we are back on shore."
