Who: Godric Gryffindor, Parvati Patil, Rose Zeller and OPEN to the other children at Parvati's pub, the Fate & Beauty
When: January 13
Where: Parvati's Pub
Why: Godric needs to see Rose, to make sure she's okay
Rating:G
Complete: No

Godric Apparated to the Fate & Beauty public house and strode up to the door. He pushed his travelling cloak over his right shoulder as he reached up to knock upon it, anxious to meet the one who was caring for his dearest one during her ordeal. Guilt nagged at him, for he felt it was his duty to care for her, but how could he, when he did not know anything about tending to young children? Hogwarts did not qualify, as by the time the students enrolled there, they were quite capable of being on their own.

He chewed the inside of his bottom lip as he waited for someone to answer his knock. It felt as if an entire clan of dragons were fighting a war in his belly.

"Ms. Parva~ti~, someone's at the dooooor!" Rose called as she scampered towards the door of the Pub. She stood on her tiptoes and managed to grasp the door knob, pulling the door open with a small "oomph."

Rose stared up at the man that stood there, recognition flitting across her face. She knew him, but...

Something was wrong, but she didn't know what that could be!

"You're Godric...you're my Krishna!" Rose beamed. "Krishna is beautiful like I knew he would be! Have you come to see me?"

When the knock sounded at the door, Parvati was balancing three bowls of coloured powder which she was about to take outside so she and Rose could start the Holi party. She heard Rose call out and turned abruptly. "Rose! Wait until I... ack!" her foot caught on a discarded toy and she fell with a yelp, the bowls flying up into the air. Gravity being what it was, the bowls naturally came down... dumping their contents all over Parvati. Spluttering and coughing, covered in pink, blue and yellow powder, Parvati got to her feet, brushing ineffectively at her once white sari and getting the worst of the powder off her face. Once she could see clearly, she hurried over to the front door in time to hear Rose welcome their guest. Parvati let out a sigh of relief. Clearly this was the person who'd called Rose his 'dearest' and therefore was no threat.

"Achem..." she cleared her throat and smiled, despite feeling a bit foolish for showing up covered in coloured powder and looking like she needed more care than the child-Rose. "Can you introduce us, Rose?"

Rose giggled at Ms. Parvati and smiled up at Godric.

"Silly Ms. Parvati! Um, this is my Krishna, Godric. Krishna, this is Ms. Parvati! She's looking after me, isn't she nice?" Rose reached up to tug on his much larger hand. "Please come in, Krishna! We're just about to have Holi."

It was so strange, that she knew him but didn't know who he was! Oh well, it wasn't that important she guessed.

But...

Godric ducked down and stepped through the door, allowing Rose to guide him along. He did not know what Holi was, but if it made her happy, he was thankful for it. Tightness clutched his chest as he tried to smile at her. This was his beloved lady, reduced to a child's age and form. Slowly, he looked away from her to the room's other occupant, an exotic-looking witch, and bowed his head.

"I am Godric Gryffindor," he said. "T'is a pleasure to meet you . . ." recalling what Rose had used to address her, he continued, "Ms. Parvati Patil."

Parvati giggled back at Rose, pulling a face, before paying full attention to her guest again. When he introduced himself, she almost fell down again. Conversing with Salazar Slytherin over journals was awe-inspiring enough, now she had the founder of her House standing in front of her... and she was covered in multi-coloured powder! A blush stained Parvati's cheeks, visible even under the blue powder still speckling her face, and she swallowed before greeting him in the Indian-style with her palms pressed together in a prayer form and bowing. "The pleasure is mine, sir. It's an honour to meet the founder of the Hogwarts House that I was a part of," she recovered enough equilibrium to smile warmly. "Please come in and I apologise for my appearance."

Her warm greeting helped set Godric more at ease. "I would much rather see someone enjoying themselves than immaculate as a statue and just as cold," he said. "I am pleased to meet another who Sorted into my own House, although I confess that it is still taking me some time to . . . adjust to the knowledge that many witches have called it home during their time at Hogwarts. I am a relic of my time."

He gently gave Rose's hand a little squeeze.

Parvati laughed then and her nervousness melted. "I don't believe anyone ever accused me of being cold," she said with a merry grin before casting a cleaning spell to remove the powder. "Is it really that odd?" she asked with a quirk of one eyebrow. "I mean... you founded Hogwarts with two witches. Were they more of an exception than the rule?" Parvati was fairly clueless when it came to history and the social norms of people who lived a thousand years before her birth.

"They were both exceptional witches, yes. In my time, the roles of men and women were very defined in society," Godric began, "and I have always held to that separation. In fact, t'was Slytherin and the ladies, Rowena and Helga, who persuaded me to admit female students into the same curriculum as their male counterparts. I had thought they would be best served to learn what they needed to in order to be good wives and mothers. But my colleagues held another point of view and carried the day - even if Slytherin's justification for his position was quite . . . esoteric and somewhat incomprehensible to me."

He felt some unease, discussing this with yet another modern witch, lest she become offended by what must, to her, appear to be a most antiquated view. "But recently, through meeting Rose, I have begun to see how the modern world differs from my own."

Parvati's lips curved into a rueful smile. "Sounds a bit like the traditional views held by many Indians... in India and overseas. My parents weren't so old fashioned, but they wanted me to marry and settle down..." she stopped then and shook her head, laughing softly again. "Anyway, that's all in the past now, and I'm glad you're gaining a different perspective, sir! Now, can I offer you something to drink?"

"Darjeeling!" Rose announced before pausing.

Where did that...oh well, darjeeling is delicious anyway and my Krishna will no doubt think so too!

"I'm going to get married, Krishna," Rose said importantly, "'cos Teddy said he'll be my boyfriend, and another kid said we have to get married because that's what boyfriends and girlfriends do! Does Krishna have a girlfriend? He better not because..." Rose blinked and stopped. "Because...um, you're my Krishna so that's good enough!"

The jealousy surprised her, but she merely clung tighter to him in the way children often do.

Darjeeling . . . that was the tea he had shared with Rose on that day he had visited her before Yule. Something stabbed into his heart when he heard Rose proclaim her intention to wed someone else, for even though it was nothing but child's play, the mere thought that she might wish to be with another caused him some pain.

"Dar . . . darjeeling would be quite lovely. I thank you," he said as lightly as he could. He looked down into Rose's face and smiled. "Well then. Allow me to congratulate you, Rose."

"Thank you, Krishna!" Rose said politely.

She then turned to Ms. Parvati and looked imploringly at her.

"May I have darjeeling, too? It's really good! Come on Krishna, you can sit over here with me! I made cookies!...well, Ms. Parvati helped me make them, but I mixed the batter!"

"Darjeeling it is then," Parvati noticed Godric didn't appear very thrilled by the prospect of Rose getting 'married' and she smiled slightly as she went into the kitchen behind the bar to make tea. How odd to think of one of the founders of Hogwarts fancying a girl of her era! Quite cute too.

As she set about brewing the tea and putting cups and saucers on a tray, along with Rose's cookies, Parvati listened to the conversation in the next room. After all, old habits died hard and she did have a reputation as a gossip queen at school!

"And I am certain the . . . cookies are delicious," said Godric, smiling down at Rose. Some of his unease had started to fade, for at the very least, Rose was being cared for and she was safe. He could not ask for anything more than that. "Now, tell me about this holi I interrupted. I do not know what it means."

"Ms. Parvati told me that it's a spring festival where you throw powder and water and stuff. Doesn't it sound fun??" Rose cheered as she climbed into her chair. "It has something to do with Lord Krishna--not you Krishna, but the other Krishna--who's really popular and stuff. You know, I'm going to be popular and a breaker of hearts, at least that's what I was told!"

Rose beamed and kicked her feet over the edge of her chair.

"It . . . it sounds very enjoyable," said Godric, "and I do not doubt for one moment that you will have your share of admirers, Fair One." He took the seat next to hers. "I apologize for interrupting your celebration."

Rose allowed herself a brief time to preen--just a bit, just a bit! It wouldn't do to get too full of herself!

"Don't be sorry! Holi is for everyone and you're really, really nice."
