Dangerous Day Care!
Who: Gellert Grindelwald, Rita Skeeter
When: January 06, right after this conversation.
Where: Rita's office, then Gellert's castle.
Why: Gellert's offered to take care of Rita, but not entirely out of the kindness of his non-existent heart.
Rating: PG. Even Gellert draws the line at experimenting on kids unnecessarily.
Complete: No.

Gellert had convinced one of the guest rooms -- one of the safe guest rooms -- to redecorate itself in pink. He'd stopped by the village, visited one of his favorite restaurants and talked them into agreeing to send up to the castle any meals that Gellert ordered. He'd also picked up some coloring pencils, blank scrolls of paper, colorful modeling clay, dolls with ridiculously frilly dresses and a little pink witch's hat for Rita.

He didn't want to buy her any clothes until he knew what size she was.

The Location Charm he wore around his neck, an arrow pendent that kept swinging around to point in the direction of the target, led to Rita and her office quickly. Still on the carpet, he hovered in front of the window, sunlight haloing his golden curls, and knocked on it with an impish grin.

Idly scribbling, Rita sat on the floor of the office, writing in the odd book that people also could write in no matter where they were and doodling in a big sketch pad. The whir of the press clicked behind her, waiting again to be used to print a City Edition or playbill.

She looked up sharply to see the man with the silly face tapping on the window. He was dressed very nicely, maybe he was the prince from the weird book.

"Are you Jell-irt?" she said, tongue tripping over the unfamiliar name.

"Gellert." Gellert corrected her, though he didn't particularly care too much about the pronunciation of his name. He had friends from France who'd insisted on using a soft 'g' for it, after all, and that was close enough to how Rita had said it.

He softened the correct with a smile, holding out the pink little pointy witch's hat with the shiny golden crown resting on the brim instead of a ribbon. "And yes, I am. Look! I brought you your crown."

Rita looked very little. But the blue eyes and golden hair amused Gellert simply because it made them seem related on the surface.

Rita stood quickly, running over to Gellert. "Ooh, pink!"

The press behind them gave a spontaneous clap of protest, followed by a loud whir that soon subsided. Rita jumped at the noise, but collected her cool like a cat, and pretended as though the start had not occurred.

"It's okay," she said. "It does that." With a smile, she put on the hat and crown and pretended to wave around a wand. "Sweepo cleano!"

For the fun of it, with a grin, Gellert murmured a quick cleaning incantation under his breath to make the papers stack tidily together and the pens to sort themselves by color. He shifted more to the front of the carpet, acting like a chauffeur, and gave Rita a grin over his shoulder as he held out a hand to her through the window.

"Your Highness, your carpet awaits! I hope you are not afraid of heights?" If necessary, Gellert could make the carpet travel lower, close to the ground, even though his personal preference was to fly so high that lack of oxygen made him light-headed. He wouldn't risk Rita's safety just for his own thrill-loving nature, though.

"Nope! I'm not scared at all!" With a bounce and a jump, Rita skipped over to the window, looking at the carpet and grinning. "This will be a whole lot of fun!" she declared, waving around her invisible sceptre. "I will be princess of the whole universe!"

Rita tried to climb up onto the window. "It's too high, Mr. Gell-irt."

"Then I'll just have to help you, won't I?" Gellert brought the carpet closer to the window, ducking under the sill so that he could pick Rita up and place him on the carpet besides him. With a twist of his fingers and a murmured incantation under his breath, he performed a quick Sticking Charm so that her bottom wouldn't move from the carpet until he released the charm -- he really didn't want her falling off!

"Wave to your subjects, your Highness!" Gellert suggested as the carpet took off, the two of them speeding over the streets and the people below. He made sure they didn't go too fast though, just in case the wind knocked off Rita's hat.
