It was everywhere – the blood.
It seeped through his trembling fingers, caked at his temples, and pooled at his feet.
What have I done? What’s happening?!
His body responded to the carnage at his feet. His blood ran hot and caused blisters to run along his arms. He screamed and tasted metal in his mouth. Red filled his vision and he felt his innards shifting.
Energy roiled around him, burning hot against his skin. He could feel an ancient power filling his soul to the brim, leaving no room for his former life.
It was too late to turn back.
