Saiunkoku Monogatari Kink Meme!

Hi guys, I hope you don't mind me advertising this here, however the more participants we have the better the challenge will be!

Saiunkoku_fic over on Livejournal is running it's second Saiunkoku fic battle. It's basically modeled on InsaneJournal's porn battle, although it's (rather obviously) limited to Saiunkoku prompts.

It's most definitely not a tit-for-tat challenge, so you can make as many requests as you like and respond to as many (or as few) as you want to. There is a $5 US voucher available to the person who answers the most amount of prompts, however. The voucher can be for any store that allows you to buy vouchers online with a credit card, so while it's not a big prize by any stretch of the imagination, hopefully it's a somewhat fun one.

Fic requests (and fic posts) can be made anonymously, so there is no need to sign up for a LJ account if you don't have one, or if you don't want to use your LJ account even if you do have one. The prompt submission thread can be found here. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!

Summary: Shuurei has a friend and advisor who is apart from the capital’s politics; Yui has a place for her abilities and a lover who reminds her of them.

Yui curled up on the bed, one hand propping up her head, and watched Shuurei pace the room, sleeping robe fluttering around her ankles.

"And then! And then! He said we couldn’t do anything about Haruki, even if he is taking bribes, because he has a patron from the Heki clan, and I should know that the Heki are going to be the deciding voice in the land redistribution this year!" Her brown eyes snapped like sparks; Yui felt she might warm her hands at that fire of Shuurei’s, melt the ice out of her bones, where it had settled years ago.

I'm a newcomer to InsaneJournal and have yet to do much with it, but I'm a long-time user of Livejournal, and specifically the Saiunkoku_fic community. I just wanted to invite everyone who camps out in this little corner of the institution to come on by for our Secret Santa fic exchange! You don't need a livejournal account, just an email if you want to participate.

This Secret Santa exchange has been running for two years now and has resulted in a lot of good fics. Not to mention it's a rare chance to get someone to write that fanfiction that you've always wanted to read but no one else seems to hit on (why is that, anyway?!). Plus the writer of the best story (decided by popular vote in the week after Christmas) will receive the Saiunkoku-themed gift of their choice in the mail, shipped straight from Japan by yours truly!

The Age of Silver

This is an Alternate History arc of stories, going from the what-if of "What if Seien had chosen to return to his court position?" It currently goes from fairly early in Seien's history up to canon start.

Genre: Drama with bits of Angst and Humor

Story Title: Bloom.
Chapter Title: Seedling.
Summary: Before a flower can blossom, it goes through various stages of growth. PG-13ish.
Pairing: Eventual You Shuu/Kouyuu. Probably. Possibly. Maybe. Crap. This chapter, however, only features chibi!Kouyuu.
Notes: mitsuhachi came to my aid with an awesome You Shuu/Kouyuu prompt to help my over my block writing these two. About 800 words in and with no end anywhere in sight, I decided to stop writing that story for a while so I could work on something short – the plan was to actually write and finish something, after all ^_^. As a result, I turned to a challenge community for inspiration and a second plot bunny was born that I was sure would clock in easily under 1000 words. Somewhere along the way it morphed into a four or five chapter story, which the potential You Shuu/Kouyuu way off in the distance. I officially suck.
Warning: The entire story is meant to encompass as many of the themes over at 30_darkfics as possible. I’m not going to warn for individual dark themes because the story is only going to be about 4 chapters long so each one with incorporate quite a few at a time. That said, this is easily the darkest of the chapters. Be warned?
Spoiler warnings: Spoilers like whoa for volume 13 of the novels and Kouyuu’s back story. Certain elements are also taken from the gaiden story that deals with the first few months after Kouyuu is adopted by Reishin, and a lot is just me playing with different ideas that didn’t happen at all. Kouyuu’s back story in the novel is completely different to the anime and CD drama, FYI.

I know a number of people who are/will be joining this comm have recently written Saimono fic. I'm under the impression that re-posting older fic is somewhat not done in most communities, so I wanted to make it clear that they are very welcome here; if nothing else, it'll make them easy to find later, for when we convince people that there's so much shiny for this fandom they pretty much HAVE to join want to read it again. So.

Also: prompts (and responses!) for the challenge list don't have to be porny. Gen or mild romance are both equally welcome, so feel free.

Because not having a place for Saimono squee on IJ was just a damn shame. <3

A couple of things, to start us off:

1. A challenge! I challenge you, good si-- wait, the other kind. ^///^ Since porn_battle seemed to bring us out of the woodwork (top ten fandoms list, whut! *buffs nails*), I thought we could christen the comm with a challenge in the same style, but without the due date. So drop prompts in the comments to this post for pairings/kinks/themes you'd like to see written, and we'll see if we can't drag people kicking and screaming into the comm to write them for us deliver. :D

2. Business stuff. If anyone notices anything wonky with the site, thinks of other interests that might net us someone looking for us, or has other questions/concerns, let me know. If you know anyone who might be interested in the comm, let them know! <3 More love is always good.
