Here are a couple links to sites with interesting Promethea related info--

Promethea Notes and Annotations by Eroom Nala-- I don't know about you but I'm not an expert on Hermetic Qabalah, mystical societies, the Illuminatus! trilogy or the life and works of Aleister Crowley.  While Promethea provides a lot of information on these things, often times Moore's writing is so dense with eclectic references that 90% of them are lost on me.  Which is where this guide comes in handy.  It goes issue by issue, sometimes panel by panel explaining everything from art influences to British pop culture to mystical mumbo-jumbo.  Monty Python in-jokes, Beatles lyrics, the Tarot, Rosicrucian-- your guide all that is mystifying in the world of Promethea.

Transgender Graphics and Fiction Archives’s Promethea page—This is a nifty site that collects images of transgendered characters in popular media such as comics books and comic strips, books, magazines and video games. The Promethea page focuses on Promethea as manifested by Bill Woolcott as well as Roger from Five Swell Guys includes scans of pages from the series that feature them.

Promethea's two transgender characters, Bill (here a blonde) and Roger (red-headed) meet in Promethea #8

In one of the bouts of reckless extravagance I’m unfortunately prone to I bought all five volumes of Alan Moore and J.H. Williams III’s graphic novel Promethea on Ebay a couple weeks ago.   I started reading it on the plane to New York last Friday and finished it up earlier this week.  I definitely don’t regret buying it.  While not a perfect series (like Watchmen), Prometheus was still wonderfully witty, with excellent art and some really cool characters and ideas.  cut for length, spoilers, images... )
