What:  A party thing honoring the Dude pleasant "fuck you" to King with this timing mission. This is serious business you guys.

[The step pyramid that is Orion's dorm is looking festive today; strands of those metallic-tasting berries and cinnamon-bark have been carefully threaded and slope downward from the roof garden. The cookpot has been filled with water and dragged outside; all six of Orion's cups are outside, as well. Nearby, two freshly killed pederpes have been butchered and sliced into manageable pieces, and beside the meat, there are thin slivers of mushwood to use as skewers.]

[Perhaps the most noticeable change, however, is the hole in the rock in front of the dorm- and the wood that has been piled up inside it to make a massive bonfire. Sketched on each side of the fire, in charcoal, is the rough outline of a turtle.]

[A dapper, elderly man sits on the edge of the Apus dorms roof. He doesn't seem overly remarkable past his presence... a well tended hat and immaculate suit, polished dress shoes... but there's something about him that ... makes him hard to look directly AT.

He has a rather fancy, bottled beer sitting next to him, and is idly pulling on a fishing pole now and then. The line is... down into the hole that swallowed Cygnus.

He's humming a rather cheerful ditty, as if it was a fine day for fishing.]

The call today was a fleeting, pleasant one. The blanks that followed may have been on their way to more important matters, or perhaps simply going about their daily gathering routines. In any case, once they arrived at the arena, they'd find some familiar faces. On the grass, surrounded by grazing sheep, the blanks slept, their expressions peaceful.

"My, my," the Judge thought aloud, her book closed. "I wonder if this is really a happy ending."
