[If it were not for the refreshing of rations, and the low rumble of the snake moving irritably, you may not even know that the rankings had been called this month, as they stayed absolutely static.

For most, however, bedsheets and coffee aren't really a large concern compared to the atmosphere hanging overhead and the way the opening to the snake's chambers feels... dangerously warm.]

[The torches are beginning to dim for the evening over what was a rather ... exciting day for the regular Blanks... The barracks still remain a center of calm to walk back into for an Ophiuchus.

So much so, that would one wander down, they might find the enormous snake sleeping lightly on its own coils.]

[The change this evening comes sometime after dinner. Rattling the dishes and tables, the movement of the Guardian really is almost a familiar sound by now... but the changes are anything but.

Caduceus enjoys the first place and Uroboros falls to last, making it more than a little unusual evening to say the least. That alone would have been enough if it were not for what followed:]

[You return home empty handed after some time and have an oddly disproportionate idea of how many squidrats are in the ruins.

[To those who HADN'T been outside last night, the rumbling shift that happens in the morning really isn't much different than the one you heard last night. The ground moves as the Guardian settles its coils comfortably again.

It's almost as if nothing happened at all.

However, Uraeus' uniforms become fine and extremely comfortable... while Uroboros finally falls behind. Caduceus is, again, in last place.]

[One rather dangerous looking boy is currently pacing around one of the upper levels of Ophiuchus, engrossed in reading the rulebook.]

[It appears that the raid upon the South Block had not been overlooked by the Judges. For those who had stayed in possible could hear and feel the raise in temperatures from the stairwell leading to the chambers of the Guardian. And as those of Ophiuchus began to trickle in, injured, roared into a blaze of anger...

And then dimmed, almost to a cool silence.]

[It is yet again, dreadfully early in the morning that the world beneath the arena shakes. This time, Uroboros and Caduceus both have found themselves in the highest regard of the King and Guardian, while Uraeus has at least the benefits of the middle class.]

[And this particular morning as well, one Ticky Mick will feel a singular tug of his attention down below where a single, black silver-embossed scroll awaits on the altar.]

[For many Ophiuchus who have been used to such changes occurring terribly early in the morning, if not in one's sleep if they are not favored by Horn, probably for the first time feel the earth shake, the rasp of scales, and a black shimmer engulf your clothing, changing them as you stand.

Caduceus has taken the finery and luxuries of this round, with Uraeus following extremely closely. Uroboros places last by only a point.

Outside of the unusual time of a rankings change, there's something of an anticipatory air hanging heavy.]

[By some miracle, when the rumbling of movement comes from below and the sweep of change through the halls and rooms of the Ophiuchus sub-units.

Uroboros will find their living conditions unchanged at the the most comfortable and convenient, however, Uraeus' have noticeably improved. Caduceus has dropped to the lowest rank.

There is no words from below, however, the faint tremors of movement indicate that the giant snake is settling again.]

[It seems, for a snake that tends to sleep so much of the time, that when it DOES wake up and move, shaking the dorm beneath your beds and waking you from your slumber, it's ALWAYS horribly, horribly early.]

[In that moment, there is a sweeping change through the dorms. Your accomodations, your food, the quality of clothes you wear. Uraeus this time, has come in last, with Uroboros taking a sweeping lead.

... And curiously enough, as the changes recede, there are two envelopes with the king's seal on two nightstands, one to Marla, and one to Geddoe.]

Not that he knows this, or even has any markings of being on Uroboros yet. He is, however, quite winded, and even more intent on getting way the hell away from whatever horrifying monster is down there.]
