Events and Minus House points!?
Lux here, sorry to be flooding the friend's pages with so many modly things.

The September Calendar is up! It's pretty self explanatory, more details on some of the events will be given closer to the date but if there are any questions, ask away!

As for House Points, Characters will automatically accrue house points for their houses with their activity (threads & journal posts). Using this method means that Houses will can only go up in points and never down, right? Wrong! Prefects & Head boy/girl will be allowed to take away points (as well as professors but that's a different story). You also lose points for inactivity, etc. This way, points will fluctuate more and it'll give the Prefects/students more plot toys, house rivalries to play around with as well as compensate for the fact that there are more characters in some houses compared to others.

So, I have two questions which I want all of you to answer: (I would make a poll, but this isn't a paid account so I'll need everyone to reply with their comments/suggestions.)

1) Should Prefects/Heads be allowed to take away points in journal entries?
They will be allowed to do so in threads/log for sure, but most players seem to prefer writing journal entries compared to threads or find it hard to butt into a thread/log just to demerit points so... taking points away in journal entries, yay/nay/other?

2) Should threads/journals so far be counted for house points?
It would mean we start off the school year with house points already stacked up if we do count the summer hols activity. OR, we start counting threads/journals from September 1st onwards, in game time.

1) I think that taking in journals should be allowed, because if they see some inappropriate stuff going on, then its only right that they're punished for it. (Of course, that means students will hex more entries.) But, of course, there must be regulation. A Prefect can't just take points because they feel like it. There must be a valid reason. XD

2)Since they weren't in school, I think it would make more sense to count September 1st on. They can't really get points out of school, can they?

1) There would be a limited number of points a Prefect can pull from someone at a time, but points wars would be kind of amusing if rival houses get really heated over it. >3 Or would that be a bad idea?

I think it depends on the situation. If it was a somewhat valid arguement, sure, if it was one of those "FIVE POINTS FROM SLYTHERIN BECAUSE YOU'RE A SLYTHERIN!!!!!!!!" Then...well, I don't see that as being just. That's probably just my Mischa talking. She's all about fairness. XD She probably wouldn't engage in these 'point wars'.

1) I think if you get a character being very insulting to another character or obviously misbehaving then the prefects/heads should have the power to take points, BUT they should give a warning first and ask the culprit to retract/apologise for their comment/behaviour. If that doesn't happen and the insults/misbehaviour continue, then the points start coming off. I agree with Terri about there needing to be a good reason/clear evidence. :)

2) Start off with the school year. :)

Oh yeah, and I love the calendar events, especially the eeeeevil test! Shin is very smug about doing all his studying now. Meredith is wondering if there's a chance she can fall down something and end up in the hospital wing to escape it.

1) I think it would be hard to, but they should be allowed because that goes within their scope and their characters. But I also think there should be a post that they can go to and submit the link and what they did (i.e. took away points) so you as mods can keep track of it. Because some journal entries can take a life of their own and get enormous amount of comments and then it's hard to track if it gets lost.

2) Yes, because it encourages people to thread, and not solely rely on journal entries. It's hard to keep track of "plot" just through journal entries especially if the plot doesn't contain your character(s) in it.

2) I meant should threads/journals prior to today be counted :3 or should the counting start from today, being the first day back to school.

2) ah! Well... that's up to you since the game started before the school year did, just to get everyone's feet wet. I think it should, but I wouldn't care if you just started with school threads.

I'm asking for opinions! ;~; But since only three people replied, I guess the majority don't care how it's tabulated.
