Lux again, with info concerning tomorrow's event.
Everyone still remembers the basic premise of Renascent Years included Interhouse Challenges, right? If not, well, reminder here!
After a score and more years of Septembers, Headmistress McGonagall could almost say she had seen them all. Students came in, filling up to be seated on their horseless carriages to be driven to the castle while Hagrid would lead the unsorted First years on their journal across the lake as a sort of initiation. They would all then be seated, students and teachers while the House-elves careful and quick to bring the luggage to their rightful places.
After the yearly sorting had been completed and the Sorting Hat stored away for another year, Minerva stood up and tapped her spoon against her goblet for attention.
"Welcome to new students and those returning for another year at Hogwarts." She began her speech in the same somberly strict tone she was used to, "As you are aware, every year something different always ends up happening, desired or not. This year will be no different aside perhaps, the fact that this change is wanted and has been planned since last April by all of your professors.
We are at a time where House rivalries are not nearly as intense as it were in the past nevertheless it still exists. This is good; of course, the will of the founders to foster a strong learning environment is still present so we have nothing to complain about. Instead, we have decided that more competition," she paused for effect, "and co-operation is needed… Thus, I introduce to you this year, the Inter-house Challenges."
She went on to describe what it meant, how there would be a series of monthly challenges throughout the year that would require compulsory participation and of the rewards for each month. Minerva then went on to describe the teams, as she was sure there would be the most confusion or opinions in regards to that.
"Your teams will not be House exclusive." She slowly glanced around the hall as if she peered into each student’s face, "there will be two students from each House in each team, and eight students in total will form each of these teams. You have your choice of giving your own team a name and a slogan should you wish," in fact, she highly encouraged them to since it would show enthusiasm at the very least, "A leader will be elected amongst you and together as a team you will complete these challenges. The rewards will be, of course, given to the winning team while the team that ranks the lowest in the challenges will…" She smiled grimly, "possibly face a punishment chore."
There would be enough time for the students to settle down and digest the information she gave them over the course of the meal. For the meantime, hungry stomachs needed to be filled. She clapped her hands and food appeared, floating above the tables for a minute to earn some appreciative groans before settled down on the surface to be served.
"Your teams will be decided by the Professors and posted on Wednesday. Until then, eat."
