We have three additions to the game, please update your friends' list!

We will also have some removals, for those who have not yet replied to the most recent post in ryear_reports and wish to keep their characters, please do. You have until tomorrow 9pm EST to reclaim them. All unclaimed characters will be removed afterwards. If you notice a friend who hasn't replied yet but know they would like to keep their characters, give them a little poke online in case they haven't seen the post or something.

It is currently *week-018, December 2022 in the game. On Friday, the Hogwarts Express will take all students who are going home for the holidays back home.

Students who are remaining at Hogwarts over the holidays for whatever reason, please reply so we know if we need to plan a Hogwarts Christmas for them. :)

Modly business
And since I'm back (but not yet caught up, give me... a day) I'm putting on the modly hat and bringing in snow. Lots of snow. It's December anyways and I forgot to mark it on the calendar but for the next few days, Hogwarts and surrounding areas will be experiencing light flurries every afternoon. This is the sticky snow, the perfect type to build snowmen and snow forts!

Annnnd, apps will be tackled in the next few days hopefully ♥ Thank you for being patient.

Sorry folks, I know I've been MIA for a bit. I'm having some computer issues with my desktop and I haven't brought it in for fixing because the warranty has run out awhile ago, and since old computer is old, I'm stuck between wondering if I should just invest in a new one or pay less to get the old one fixed.

I'm on my laptop currently (and totally piggybacking on the Internet of my neighbours which I hope they don't find out about D: ), which I'm not quite used to using and since Internet is unpredictable, I'll be ridiculously slow in tagging back. Slow aside, I am here and will be tagging back those challenge threads slowly!

I won't be on AIM though, because like I said earlier, I'm piggybacking and there's no AIM on laptop, but if anyone has any questions/comments just leave a comment or e-mail [tearlesereph @ gmail.com]. I'm SO sorry to the folks I have yet to BS with :( I'll tackle you all as soon as I figure out what I'm going to do with my computers.

Anyways, enough about me and onto modly things. Tomorrow is the first Apparition lesson for those who signed up for it. I'm not going to put up a thread for it, if the Halloween and Challenge threads are anything to go by, group threads would probably take awhile and I don't want to have another open thread hanging for weeks. The details are already in the calendar and if those with the lessons want to set up a thread for themselves, feel free :) Otherwise, Great Hall closed from entry except for those taking their lessons. There will probably be quite a few ministry folks & instructors seen in Hogwarts whose presents may or may not bother those who are not taking lessons.

The next biggest even this week is Quidditch! The first match of the year, Gryffindor vs Slytherin will take place on Saturday. July 19 = November 19 if anyone is unsure about the date still. For this week, Madam Hooch will be opening the field for scheduling practices, Captains make sure to schedule in your practices before the rival team steals all the spots! Don't forget, due to the recent snow storm last week, there's still an abundance of snow that has not yet melted all throughout the field (especially the field since no pathways need to be shoveled) and the weather is still freaking cold. Early mornings and late evenings are probably the chilliest, especially in the air at high speeds. Your team will probably hate you if you schedule the practices at those hours!

Sorry, this post is tl;dr so far, but last note here: this be important, yo! For the results of the quidditch match, I need everyone to comment with three numbers between 1 - 50. By everyone, I know at least half of you probably won't even read this post (hiss!) so the extra numbers are for those who don't read. Just three per player, not character. AND, I need you guys to vote here for who should catch the snitch. In the comments section of that LJ post also has the actions that relate to each number, so you guys are basically choosing what happens during the quidditch match without knowing what you're choosing and for which team :D The actions/results are already posted in the comments and screened. I'm choosing LJ for this because IJ has a habit of randomly making comments disappear to random entries.

For those of you without an LJ, you guys can still comment with open ID... or anonymously and just sign your name at the end. Try not to choose the same numbers that someone else already picked.

Okay everyone, we should wrap up the Halloween threads soon and move onto solving the Murder Mystery game and then onto the Challenges. If you haven't already, please go and pick up your community invite to the new comm. If you don't see an invite, we may have typo'd your name so please let us know!

For anyone who is playing the current date: November 7 Since yesterday and until tomorrow there will be a blizzard raging on. Specifically the first snow of the year and it's coming as a storm at that! Quidditch practices are canceled as Madam Hooch has deemed the sporadic moments of hail and wind to be dangerous. In fact, most outdoor classes are canceled. For Herbology Professor Longbottom has actually assigned them readings instead. Oh, and it's currently *week-012.

As for applications, we know a few of you still have pending apps. We'll get to them! I was sort of hoping for the Halloween threads to be wrapped up before we let in a new batch of characters (to avoid confusion!) but it seems the threads are going slower than we initially anticipated. The apps will be read within the next couple of days, we promise!

OKAY, so, remember how the Calendar said the First Challenge will take place on November 2? We think that date will end up being moved just to be sure everyone gets their chance to finish their Halloween threads and play the Murder Mystery game (PLEASE!) with no worries.

So, it will most likely end up happening on the 5th instead. That should also give enough time to the new players to read up on WTF is this challenge deal and find their teammates (just browse their old journal entries and say "YO!" or something, almost everyone seems to have made a "private to team" post of some sort or have started a thread/log that could still be jumped in on still).

Actually, since I'm in a helpful mood:

Legionnaires (formerly Team Five) members? Violetta & Nunnally have a thread open HERE that's waiting for more members to jump in. That means you guys, Kenseigh, James & Alpha!

Team Alpha (formerly Team One) members, Derek has a journal post up to start a discussion HERE. That's Albus, Haleigh and Andrew.

Unbeatable Truffles (formerly Team Three), Isaac had a discussion going HERE and it seems that almost everyone has added input to. Dalan, you're also in Unbeatable Truffles.

Phoenix (formerly Team Two), Scorpius had a discussion entry up HERE too. Only Shin has replied. Other team members are Lily, Dominique and Ashton.

For the rest, Edward, you're in Brooms and BOOM with Lydia, Libby and Druella (the girls will eat you alive). And Daniel has been added to Team Six, the team who has not named themselves. I, er, couldn't find a recent team post/thread that's still open for those two teams.

Okay, so, Hallowe'en fun!

As everyone knows from the calendar there will be a costume party. The Prefects/Heads have decided the theme has been decided to be a Masquerade with clothing from the major (muggle) eras: specifically the 1900s, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Thinking film noir is cool too, because dun, dun, dun: the second part of the theme includes a Murder Mystery!

Sometime during the party, four victims will be "murdered" They won't die for real, of course, they'll just end up taking a potion that puts them to sleep (though physically make them look properly dead) brewed by Parry and Issy. Let's hope they don't mess up the potion!

Anyways, these murder victims will be randomly chosen by the Murderer (whose indentity is a secret so keep it hush-hush, Mr. Murderer!). Clues will be laid out on the scene, suspects chosen and once the murderer is discovered (or not) by the end of the two hours, the potion will wear off and the victims will become "alive" again.

OOC wise, we wouldn't want you to have your characters fall dead on you without notice so we would like four characters to be volunteered. ♥ Preferably, we would like characters with sleuthing capabilities to remain undead and play the murder mystery game!

It seems we have a case of Comment Rot as somehow all the comments on the class schedule page has somehow disappeared. Squeaky is supposedly fixing these issues for IJ but I'm not sure if we'll get them back so, we re-pasted the class schedules in a new, fresh, comment rot free entry. If you guys could drop off your character's classes again it'd be awesome!

Oh, and Friends update, as we have more new players.

Just a little reminder on tags in renascentyears All you need to do is tag the week, your own character's name and characters who reply to the thread (though they can do that themselves too). In other words, it should look something like this:

*week-009, hugo-weasley, rose-weasley

The other tags such as !events, !interhouse-challenge, !etcetera and so on are for special plotty posts so try not to use them.

Secondly, we've added a new rule. Again, it's more of a reminder since we never listed it before because we felt it was pretty obvious. Rule number 10, which I'll copy and paste it over here:

No.10 - Thread/log reply length should be adequate to reply to, this is important. This means no liners, two liners or three liners. We understand that occasionally a tag can be short here and there in a long thread but every tag in a thread/log shouldn't be that short. Replying with short replies makes it hard for the people playing with you to reply back with ample amount of information. Try to keep it a paragraph length.

Finally, please update your friend's list! We've cleared out the last set of inactive/dropees.

Lux here. As Skif mentioned earlier, I'm sick. I'll spare the disgusting details but I've been bedridden for the past week but hopefully by the end of this week I'll be mostly well again! Pray for me! ;~;

Anyways, Skif tells me she's been having trouble managing events on her own so I dragged myself outta bed to make the October calendar. May 27 and 31 were supposed to have events but I was dead then so nothing got posted. I've moved those events to tomorrow and this Saturday instead.

Tomorrow is the Apparition License Lessons sign up for Sixth years (and Seventh years who haven't it yet) who will be 17 for the test in May. Saturday will be Hogsmeade Weekend! Additional details are outlined in the Calendar so I'll cut this post short.

As you might (or might not) have noticed, we've revamped the Character List. The upper years were filling out like crazy and barely anyone was poking the fourth years with a stick... so, we decided to limit the cast to simply Seventh to Fifth years and added in an extra two student per year per house (basically our fourth year kids reincarnated).

The only real affect is the fact that Dominique and Louis Weasley will be fifth year students now. We've already discussed the change with Dominique and she was fine with it. Potter kids and Hugo, we hope the year change doesn't change too much on your ends either.

In other news, our Application post experienced comment rot or some sort of disease because every time we try to click on the "reply to comment" link, the page reloads and tells us that the comment doesn't exist. Even when we're staring right at it. So, we made a new application page and hopefully the comment rot won't spread. (Has anyone else experienced this?)

Also, we've plenty of new characters so please fondle the friend add button again!
