Bart Allen fics?
Hmm. Bart Allen (Impulse, Kid flash) is my favourite DCU character apart from the batcrew. :)

Does anyone have any fanfic recommendations for someone who has read, pretty much all of Impulse, bits and pieces of Young Justice and general feel for DCU universe is, spoiled like hell, and hopelessly lost?

Um, http://del.icio.us/qem/bart_allen is the fanfics I've read and enjoyed so far I think.

I don't read a lot of YJ/Baby Titans fic, but this is what I remembered off the top of my head. (Also, these were the ones I managed to find links for. There's a lot less DC fic in my bookmarks than I thought.)

These stories are all over the map, timeline-wise. (There's one pre-YJ, some Teen Titans era, one post-OYL.) If anything here confuses you, let me know and I'll try to explain. :)

Gen

1001 Uses For A Cape by rubynye

Subtexty gen. Bart's naked, Tim's trying to cope, and Kon's easily distracted.

The Company You Keep, by sister_wolf

Bart/Kon/Tim friendship.

Cake Drabbles, by JBMcDragon

Not actually Bart-centric, but too hilarious to miss. "I'd make a special bat-proof room so he couldn't escape, and then I'd feed him cake!" Bart announces. The room falls silent. Kon twists to peer at the young speedster. "Why are we keeping him?" Bart asks.

The Case of The Disappearing Felines by jamjar. This story is wonderful. When Bart notices cats going missing in Manchester, he calls Superboy and Robin in on the case. But it's also about Bart's need for friendship and connection.

Five Things That Never Happened To Bart Allen (out of very, very many) by oneangrykate

3) The Great Cheerleading Squad Debacle Of Aught-Three, in which Joan and Jay just didn't have the heart to tell Bart that wearing the same uniform as the girls wasn't the greatest idea.

What Keeps You Down by sister_wolf

Summary: Everything is falling apart, but Tim still has a plan. A conversation between Tim and Bart, post OYL.

Het

Aquatic by weirdnessmagnet

NC-17. Bart/Cassie and a swimming pool. (OT3! OT3!)

Slash

Best Days of Our Lives by Derry (The first link is to LJ; this one goes to the author's site.

The author calls this "the Bart/Tim Epic of Woobieness and Nothing Happening".

I cannot categorize this, but you should read it anyway: Mpreurgh by Derry and Propaganda. It's MPreg, like the title suggests, but it's hysterically funny, crackbrained and deeply twisted.

With this one, I don't know what post OYL is and I'm not sure if I get the reference to what happened, Kon died?

I think I just spoiled you. I am so sorry.

OYL stands for One Year Later. Last year, DC skipped their comics ahead one year. For the most part, the comics told us stuff that had happened during that missing year, but didn't actually show it on panel.

DC also put out a series called 52. Issues came out once a week, showing certain events of that missing year in real time. (52 is now being released in trades.)

"What Keeps You Down" is referencing the stuff that happened during/after those two events.

I didn't even think about the fic being a spoiler. I really am so very sorry.

No no no! Don't worry about it! Thank you so much for your fic recs, I greatly enjoyed them all! Thank you for the explanation. :)

I always assume when I'm reading in comics fandom that I'm either going to be spoiled or pretend it's AR from what I know, because I'm just so hopelessly behind and lost in the overall DCU that I never know where to begin.

I only really got into comics around last year? And I live in Australia where comics aren't as big, so I generally don't know any of the really obvious, latest story line, different series type things. =/

Aw, thanks. Sorry for freaking out. I'm still running on Deathly Hallows paranoia.

Everyone gets lost in comics fandom. There's just too much canon for anyone to possibly know it all. I read X-Men/Marvel exclusively for years, then switched to DC, where I mostly function in a state of blissful confusion. (I recently started following Marvel again and now I'm lost there, too. I can't win.)
