Prison wasn’t fun. Like not at all. And sure, really it was just a cell in the basement of the facility, but it sucked. The bed looked kind of the same, the bars were definitely the same and the whole place was really screwing with Adam. His bravado about taking whatever punishment they gave him was seeping away quickly. As it was, he was sitting on the edge of the cot, back against the wall, knees pulled up to his chest, trying to concentrate on breathing without throwing up and keeping the memories at bay.

Kyle had hurried down to the detention centre as soon as he’d been done with Becka, grabbing his back as he’d headed for the elevator. Giving a nod to the guy at the desk, he’d indicated that he was here to see Adam and, thankfully, hadn’t had to explain himself any further than that, or argue as to why he should be allowed in. “Hey,” he said, walking up to the bars. God, but that was a horrible sight - it brought back far too many memories for his liking.

All of her stuff was packed and ready to go, she'd let the administration know of her decision to graduate rather than return to the prison population, and now she was getting ready to go to the little 'party' she'd organized. She'd felt just a little silly making that invitation in the program on the computer, but it was cute and she rather thought this place needed a little silly. Besides, she wanted to leave here on a positive note.

It was a little bit before the time she'd set for the party when Becka headed down the stairs and across the courtyard to the cafeteria, Polaroid camera in hand. She'd showered and changed, not wearing long sleeves for the first time since her ordeal, put on just a little bit of makeup, more to cover the circles under her eyes. She managed to make it to the cafeteria first and headed for a table near a wall, pushing herself up to sit on it facing the entryway, waiting to see who would make it.

Adam felt like shit. His lip was bleeding, his face hurt, his side was agony and he was sure he’d be peppered in bruises for days. His hand hurt too, though thankfully the one punch hadn’t reopened the old wounds, but they looked redder than usual. He’d managed to find some ice, plastic bag of it in a borrowed dish towel against his face as he stumbled out of the kitchen, eyes open for Ryan but mostly locked on getting back to his room.

“What the hell happened to you?” Kyle’s voice sounded out from the doorway to the kitchen where the artist stood, the apple he had been about to bite into frozen halfway to his lips.
