A Quick Meeting
Characters: Jason and Reggie
Setting: The bar, around noon
After doing what his share of the day's required activities, Jason headed straight for the gym. For once, it was less out of an actual desire to work out, and more because he knew that if he didn't, he'd end up sitting in front of his computer, waiting for the notice that access to the basement had been restored. So he worked out, trying to distract himself.
It didn't work out as well as he would have liked and he ended up back in his room in less than an hour. Still no word about the basement being opened. No word after his quick shower either. It wasn't until he got back from a quick trip to the kitchen that the message popped up. He typed up a quick message to Hayden and set the other man's clothes aside so he could return them to their rightful owner. He'd take them down later though; he had something more important to do first. He had promised to meet Reggie in the bar and that was his first priority.
Heading down to the bar, he was a little disappointed to find that Reggie wasn't already down there, but quickly shrugged that off. Heading to the bar, he got a drink, although that was more for Reggie when he got there, and found a table with a good view of the door. Hell, he had waited almost a week to see Reggie again. He could wait just a little longer.
Reggie hadn't been able to find much to do himself. He'd done the shower thing, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to concentrate on working in the workshop without likely killing himself in some spectacular way, so he spent the rest of the time waiting at the damn computer to be told when the basement was open. Yeah, he thought that it was ridiculous that he was willing to do cute little tasks for a little scrap of time with Jason, but he still did it, so what could he say about it?
Around noon, Block B finally got unlocked and, after making sure that he was presentable, headed down to the basement. When he walked through the door to the bar, he actually froze in the doorway for a second when he spotted Jason, realizing that the man had picked out a table by the door. Snapping back to himself, he walked over. "Hey," he said, not sitting down quite yet.
The second he saw Reggie, Jason couldn't help the grin that spread across his face. Talking to him over the computer and only getting to see him with the cameras just hadn't been enough. "Hey, Reggie," he said as he stood. Without waiting, or even caring about whether or not he should, he pulled Reggie into a hug. He had missed the other man, more than he wanted to admit.
Like Reggie desperately cared what anyone around him really thought of such things. He hugged the man back, taking a moment to take in his scent and everything. He had been amazed at just how much he had missed Jason, so he wasn't about to pass this opportunity up. "Been doing OK?" Reggie asked, even though they had talked everyday since and he knew. Just felt like the thing to say.
Pulling back from the hug after a moment, Jason tugged Reggie down onto the bench seat with him. Grinning, he passed the other man the drink he had gotten for him before leaning up against him. He didn't really care about propriety or any of that right now. He had missed this, missed Reggie, and he wasn't going to let the fact that the basement was the only place the both of them could access stop him from enjoying what little time they had together. "I'm good," he said, smiling. "Even better now." Taking the time to really look the other man over, he asked, "What about you? You okay?"
Yeah, propriety was one of the last things on Reggie's mind. He accepted the drink with a thank you, and, although he took a polite sip of it, he actually wasn't focused on the drink at the moment, rather the man sitting with him. "Good. Yeah, doing alright. Mostly bored out of my bloody mind. Doing much better now that I'm here."
Jason laughed quietly; he understood what Reggie meant. With the freedom given here, it was easy to get bored, especially now that the Blocks had been cut off from each other. Being separated from Reggie really hadn't helped with that. Curling an arm around Reggie's shoulders, he pulled the other man closer to him. Grinning, he briefly rested his forehead against the side of Reggie's head as he admitted, voice low, "I missed you. Talking over the computers really just isn't the same."
Reggie couldn't help but lean back against him when Jason pulled him closer. Not that they'd ever purposefully hidden anything about themselves from the others around, but now it was painfully obvious, and he didn't give a damn. "I missed you, too. Yeah, computers suck in comparison."
Dropping his arm from around Reggie's shoulders, Jason instead curled it around his waist. He was aware just how obvious they were being, but he didn't really care either. "At least they haven't cut off computer contact yet," he pointed out. Hopefully, the administration wouldn't take that as a challenge. Being able to talk to at least talk to Reggie had made the lock down bearable. And given the way people had a tendency to disappear without warning from this place, even simply being able to use the cameras to see him and knowing that Reggie was still there was a comfort. The idea of not having that was... not something he really wanted to think about.
"No, they haven't, and I hope that they don't get new and interesting ideas, either. I've been nice and met people over there, but there are new people that need to meet others in different blocks, am I right?" Reggie pointed out. He leaned slightly against Jason, still not giving a damn if anyone was paying attention to them.
"True. But I'm pretty sure they know meeting new people isn't the real reason a lot of us want full access between the blocks again," Jason said, fiddling slightly with the hem of Reggie's shirt. He wasn't making any move to get towards skin, was more conscious of the other people in the room than that, but that didn't stop him from starting to drawn random patterns on the other man's side. Still, that reminded him. "Have you met a guy named Hayden? I'm supposed to find him tonight and give him his clothes back. I got his room."
"Oh, I'm sure they know it, but they might, for once, take the reasonable route to things as well. Not betting on it, but a man can hope." Reggie didn't move away from Jason when he felt him start to trace patterns on his skin. Yeah, couldn't really do a whole lot out here with everyone around, but he was going to soak up everything that he possibly could. "Haven't met a Hayden yet. I'm sure he'll show up here soon enough if you got his stuff, though."
Jason laughed quietly. He supposed Reggie was right about Hayden though. He would need to go back to his room to check his computer to see if Hayden had responded and to grab the other man's clothes. But he wanted another couple of minutes with Reggie first, so Hayden would just have to wait. That, as well as he playing with Reggie's shirt reminded him. "Do you have enough clothes? I mean, obviously you managed to find some. And what about the rest of it? Is there anything else you need over there?" This was the first chance they had had to get together since the lock down. If there was something Reggie needed that he couldn't get in Block B, they should probably take care of that too. There was no telling how long it would be before they had this chance again.
He couldn't help but snort a little, looking down at the jeans he was wearing, which he had to roll up a tad. "I think I'll survive over there. I'm thinking about kidnapping you and taking you back over there with me, but otherwise I guess I'm doing OK. What about you? Did you manage to get your stuff back?"
"Trust me, if we had access to each other's blocks, I'd have been over to yours before you even had a chance to kidnap me," Jason assured Reggie. Finally releasing the hem of the other man's shirt, he went back to letting his fingers wander slowly over Reggie's arm. Nodding in response to Reggie's question, he answered, "Yeah. I actually knew the girl who got my room. I let her borrow a few of my things since she didn't have any, but other than that, I got all of it back."
Reggie couldn't help but laugh when Jason said that. Yeah, if there was any sort of access, then there wouldn't be any need for kidnapping, would there? "Well, weren't you lucky then? Sounds like not everyone had that sort of luck." He then smiled. "Oh, they apparently turned the music room into a theater."
Jason nodded, looking slightly embarrassed at that as he tapped his fingers distractedly against Reggie's arm. He knew that he had gotten fortunate in regards to who had gotten his room and that, as Reggie had said, not everyone had been that lucky. Hell, Reggie certainly hadn't been, considering his old room was completely inaccessible. At least someone had been nice enough to let him borrow some clothes, since Jason hadn't been able to. He really wasn't sure what he could say to that, so when Reggie mentioned the new theater over in Block B, he instead focused on that topic. It wasn't difficult, especially not with that smile on Reggie's face. Without even thinking about it, Jason grinned, matching Reggie's expression. "So you said. Once they give us access between the blocks again, I think we're going to have to try it out."
Reggie honestly hadn't meant it that way. He knew of people in his own block that seemed to have not lucked out so well. He was even forgetting about the fact that his (and a few other people's) bags were actually locked up on a different inaccessible floor. Hopefully, they would fix that nonsense, soon. "Definitely. Even have a little popcorn machine and everything," he remarked. "They really laid the place out with stuff."
"Sounds nice," Jason admitted. He couldn't complain about how things had gone the last time they had watched a movie together, but still, having a little theater sounded like it could be fun. If the administration ever gave them access to each other's blocks again. "Let's hope we get to make use of it soon."
"Yeah, that would be fantastic," Reggie admitted. Maybe he could suggest a movie marathon to the admins. They seemed to like the 'group activities' sort of deal, after all. "Your clothing swap buddy is probably gonna show up soon and steal you away from me."
Jason laughed, tightening his arm briefly around Reggie's waist. "Yeah, I should probably go." Still smiling, he pressed a brief kiss to the older man's neck. It was a little less obvious, and, at the moment at least, easier to reach. "It shouldn't take too long though. We can meet back here afterwards." The second part was as much question as it was a statement. He didn't actually know what sort of plans Reggie had for the rest of the day.
"Yeah, I should probably drop in with the new doctor as well." Reggie had said something to the guy about dropping in and getting his head examined. It would be nice if he didn't have to go over everything again, but he doubted Cal's notes were still behind. "Definitely going to be looking for you here when I'm done, though."
When Reggie mentioned the doctor, Jason looked sharply over at the other man, before he realized what the visit was probably about. Relaxing again, he gave Reggie a gentle push, encouraging the other man to get up so that he could slide out off the bench and stand up. "Okay. I'm going to head out." Pressing a quick kiss first to the scar on Reggie's brow, he then dropped a second to the other man's lips. "I'll meet you back here. Let me know how the visit with the new doc goes," he added after they broke apart.
"Promise to let you know if the good doctor decides I need to be locked up for my own good," Reggie teased, pressing his lips back against the other man's. "Let me know how the clothing exchange goes, OK?" He slid out of the booth finally, allowing for Jason to be able to get up himself.
Reggie's joke wasn't terribly funny, especially considering where they were and the fact that they were talking about Reggie's mind, but Jason grinned anyway. He had missed Reggie, missed the easy teasing, and no matter the subject, it was nice to know that that hadn't changed. "Doubt there'll be much to tell," he said, standing after Reggie slid out of the booth. Smiling, he added, "I'll see you later." Smiling, he gave Reggie one last kiss before heading out of the bar, and back to his room to collect Hayden's things.
