Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

jo's (small) link dump

[info]hangthestars
[info]rpresources
Yooooo so I don't do coding because ain't nobody want to see that, BUT seeing as a lot of the link/resource dumps in the old RP Tutorials are defunct or locked now, I thought I'd share some of the bits and pieces I've found across the internets.

Artsy-Type Stuff:
» Color Palette Generetor: This one will make palettes based on pictures. Just plug in a URL and it'll give you a "dull" and "vibrant" palette!
» Colour Lovers: Palettes palettes and more palettes! This site will even let you search for color schemes based on a single color, so (for example) if you want a thing with a specific shade of pink, you can bring up a whole bunch of different ones with that pink. It doesn't actually MAKE palettes for you, but it's full of palettes other people have made, and you can make and save your own.
» Color Picker: What it says on the tin. It's a really simple site that lets you... pick colors. This one will also make palettes based on a color you pick, but will only do it for one color. I use this one the most when I'm switching around colors on layouts.
» Jo's Gif Hunt & RP Resource Stash: This is actually my sideblog that I use to dump gif hunts and stuff that I find useful, and I'm just learning to draw, so most of this tumblr is actually art reference stuff or little tutorials.
» Photoshop CS6 Gif Tutorial: My gif tutorial over at [info]supersuits. It's really simple (and old enough that I still went by "Jen" instead of "Jo"), but it'll get you started if you have CS6.

Other Stuff:
» Real-time HTML Editor: I don't code, but [info]wearestardust does, and this is the site she uses to test her codes while she makes them! Be careful with this one; it doesn't save your progress for you, so make sure you keep a saved version in an offline document while you work just in case.
» Icon Table(less) Generator, v2: An easy table generator for icons. [info]wearestardust and I use this over at [info]supersuits. All you need is a collection of links to where your icons are hosted. The coding does break once you get over... I want to say 115 icons or so, which is why all my iconsets are 100 or less.
» Harry Potter + Sun Signs: I went digging for this when my game was doing a meme and thought I'd share! This site is old and only uses the Western Zodiac, but it makes Sorting Hat memes really fun.
» Lorem Ipsum Generator: For your lorem ipsum dummytext needs.
» Hovertext Code(s): This is actually a question someone asked back in [info]rp_tutorials that I've kept bookmarked.
» LJ Cut Code: Another old [info]rp_tutorials post I kept saved for using text as a cut tag instead of... a cut tag. You know what I mean.
» MyNoise.net: A noise generator site. It says "rain noise", but it has other things, too.

I think that'll be it for today! Enjoy!

I use this icon table generator over at [info]mrspigglewiggle and I really like it! I haven't had any issues with it handling large numbers of icons.
