Was there any point in this madness that I could have stepped in and done something to change the course, or was this meant to be? Could I have intervened, when my father was holing himself up in his study for days - weeks - at a time? Could I have changed things then? When I saw he and Danni were getting too close, would he have listened to me? Would it have changed things even then? Should I have stepped in when I saw what Danni was after, and when I saw where my father's madness was leading him? When the mages began to disappear? When would have been a good time for me to do more than pray to the Elder gods? I don't know that I could have done anything, but at least I could have tried. My father is gone. He's been gone for nearly two years. I have read his notes, deciphering what I could, but it is enough. There are nine stones that can rift holes in the world. I suppose when you've gone insane it doesn't do to think small. Nine stones. Nine stones that could be anywhere, be in anyone's hands. I do not think Danni has any of them (or if he has them, he cannot use them). So why do I start this journal now? Why not two years ago, when he first vanished, or two years before that when I realized he was working with magic more powerful than he had any right to be holding? Because yesterday I was approached by a horse who could speak to me. I don't mean he flapped his lips and snorted ... I mean I heard him inside my head. His name is Carion, and he has a quest. I suppose this is the way the Elder gods answer the prayers of the devout - or choose to rectify the mistakes of the mad. I won't pretend to understand, and a great deal of this baffles me, but Carion is to find the stones. He believes he has at least one human companion, and tomorrow we'll set out to find him. Or her, I suppose. From what Carion has told me so far, the stones have been scattered. He can feel them pulling him in several different directions, some closer than others, some stronger than others. He believes they must be destroyed, and I am inclined to agree with that sentiment. However, until we find his human companion - he calls him the Chosen - then he will be unable to proceed. After all, how many jewelers will sell to a horse? And how many horses can mine or reserve themselves a stall at an inn? I do not know precisely what part I play in this. Carion seems to think that I shall be the brains of the operation as it were, the organizer. The one to utilize the connections we've built since the decree against Magic thrust us all underground. That means in the world 6,706,999 people are immune. 30,382 in the US. 4,301 in Colorado. 2,506 in Denver... In July of 2012 a pathogen that came to be known as The Fury Virus was released by a cult of religious fanatics who believed they were destined to do so in order to bring about the apocalypse. Their goal was to purge the Earth of sinners, people unworthy to stand upon it. Only the righteous would remain, those that had earned their place in the new world. Everything did not go according to plan. The virus was uncontrollable. No continent, no country, no city was spared. The infection spread everywhere, mercilessly and indiscriminately killing saints and sinners alike . In the end, only a small percentage of people were left alive, but they were not the righteous. They'd simply won the genetic lottery, blessed with immunity and cursed with the burden of watching the world fall apart around them. Then there were the others, another small percentage of the population, who didn't die from the virus. They were changed though. Changed into beings made up purely of madness and rage. They killed without thought or hesitation. Those that survived the virus without succumbing to madness were now forced to fight for the lives they were trying to rebuild. The creatures, those that were changed, were called Eaters, due to their insatiable appetite for living flesh. One group of survivors made the drive up Mount Evans, to the University of Denver's Meyer-Womble Observatory, away from the packs of Eaters that roamed the cities and the plain. There, they started a new life, building a new home known as Haven. For the last eight months, they've worked tirelessly, building walls to keep their new home safe. What they can't make or grow on their own, they raid from the mostly empty city of Denver. The Eaters still come, roving bands looking for flesh to sate their hunger. The residents of Haven must fight for their lives and work together to survive. 10:28 pm [ao_admin]	Absit Omen: A Harry Potter RPG, Circa 2008 Double, double toil and trouble; It all started with the Remembering Day murders. Ex-Azkaban inmate Theodora Kingstreet, in the beginnings of a plot to remove the Minister of Magic, staged her own attack on the night of the Memorial Ceremony. The result was the death of two innocent aurors and the framing of an innocent student for murder. These events led to the resignation of the Hogwarts Headmaster, Knox Greyfriar, leaving the prestigious position open for grabs. Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Mysteries, Analiza Snark, is trying to get funding for her mysterious Project 492: The wizarding world's ultimate weapon. Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. When Minister Annwyl rejects her idea, Snark is forced to seek another place to develop it without the Ministry looking over her shoulder: Hogwarts. She seizes the position of Headmistress and in order to continue her work unhindered, she redirects attention elsewhere- towards Olivia Foley, a fifth-year Hufflepuff and known werewolf. Snark expels Ollie for her condition, causing an uproar among some professors and students, who gather to form a werewolf rights group known as SAWS. To remain in power, she hires student Devlin Matthews to sabotage SAWS and frame them for vandalism against the school, drawing more attention away from her real goals. To make matters worse, in the shadows other factions are beginning to move, from the sinister aspirations of the Wizarding Blood Alliance to the mysterious artifact brought back by the Ancient Runes professor and its ties to an ancient wizarding cult. The Dark Mark was a regular appearance, families were torn apart and storefronts were closing down because witches stopped shopping for fear of their lives. Each issue of the Daily Prophet seemed to be filled with portents of misfortune. Another death. Another Dark Mark lighting up the sky. Another missing persons poster on the lampposts of Diagon. The signs of the war, so easily overlooked previously, were becoming impossible to ignore. The wizarding community became painfully aware that the next body in the morgue could be their own. It grew difficult to stay neutral. Some managed to remain unaffiliated, while others split on either side of a stark division. The Death Eaters were on a quest for the domination of purity, led by a power-hungry Dark Lord. The Order of the Phoenix was a guerrilla group to the Death Eater's organized ranks, taking them out in secret, attempting to neutralize the threats in the name of equality. But what happens when the threat simply vanishes? Without Voldemort to lead the Death Eaters, will things be better or worse? Will the attacks stop or become more frequent, more deadly? And what of the Order? Sensing the fading threat, will they dissolve into obscurity, splintering off to live their own lives, or will they remain a unit, ready to defend against the return of darkness? 1978 is nearing a close. Super powered beings exist, and living a sane life is no easy feat for anyone. In such an extraordinary world, an average day can be ruined by the strangest of threats; be it viral zombies, megalomaniacal criminals or assassination attempts. All just part of a normal day in a very abnormal world. You don’t even glance up at the shrill whine of sirens or the roar of a giant monster a few blocks over. In the sky above a caped character is flying towards the fray; a member of some super hero team or perhaps a lone vigilante. Maybe the monster is a mythical creature or an invading alien or a minion of the latest super villain. A van is hurled down the street followed by another angry howl but you go casually about your business- buy your newspaper, sip your latte- and mutter cynically to yourself, "oh_marvelous." Oh Marvelous is an age 18+, social, thread based, third person, AU Marvel RPG played in real time (quite a mouthful). The game is set in present day. Although the game is New York centered, action takes place in locations all over the world. Plot is primarily player driven with occasional inclusive plots that affect the entire game. This game does not follow any set timeline or particular Marvel continuity. 11:06 am [plus28daysmods]	Plus 28 Days - Post DH End of World RPG On October 31st, 1999, a group of eco-terrorists released a biological weapon at every major airport in the world. 48 hours later, the true nature of the weapon became clear. The infected became violent, infecting others through bites and scratches. 50 hours after the first contagion was released, governments across the globe initiated states of emergency. Sites were designated as shelters with troops and Aurors sent to protect those sites at all costs. Radio broadcasts gave the locations of the Ministry of Magic and Buckingham Palace as 'safe spots' but they were really processing centers screening out the infected and sending the uninfected via the Floo network to hidden shelters. Those lucky enough to find shelter must now wait it out – the 28 long days for the infected to starve to death or kill each other in their madness. Then they will have the unenviable task of rebuilding society and the world. Plus 28 Days is a Post DH HP-based RPG began on October 31st, 2009. We have a small, friendly, active core cast. It was little things at first, easy to ignore, escalating to bigger attacks, bigger crimes, and of course, retaliation. Now the country is about ready to tear itself apart as the Ministry steps up their attempts to defeat Voldemort and no one is really sure who they should trust, if they should trust anyone at all. Who can you turn to when your own government is as likely to kill you as the masked criminals roaming the streets? Even the muggles are starting to notice. Attacks in muggle places are becoming more frequent, the Death Eaters getting more bold. And everyone is asking the same question. How long before it's open war? The boys graduated from Spenser Academy and looked into colleges around the world. Reluctant to go their separate ways, they nevertheless understood the need to pursue their own lives. They stayed in touch. Kept up with who was dating who, who’d been dumped by who, who had scored with who. Who was passing what, who needed help to keep from failing what. They always came home between semesters and over summers. This break though, Caleb has a feeling that something’s wrong. That something’s coming. And he’s right. Three years ago, he defeated Chase Collins at the former site of Putnam Barn. The barn was destroyed by the resulting fire, and no body was ever found. No one knew what had become of Chase Goodwin Pope Collins. …until now. Returning from his three year stint in Hell, Chase is pissed. He’s not alone, either – in his epic escape from Hell, he managed to rift time and space, opening gaps to other worlds … and letting people from all across time, space, and reality into Ipswich. 12:30 am [fairmaiden]	The Kingdom of Frell is at peace. Though the so-called Golden Age of King Char and Queen Ella is long over- so long ago now that few are still alive who can remember it- life continues on much as it ever did. Merchants travel the lands far and wide, finding new and exotic goods to bring back to Greenville, the town just outside the royal palace. Greenville's markets are thriving, and most of the town's inhabitants pay little mind to the castle looming in the distance. That is, of course, until The Gray Death appears. There is no known cure. Sufferers initially feel very weak, and are soon not even able to get out of bed. Overcome by fever, their complexions turn gray and they die. Still, Greenville believes it is safe- there are just rumors of the illness, and being so close to the castle, they're safe, right? Wrong. The illness knows no boundaries, a fact that is brought starkly to light when the King of Frell contracts the disease and dies a short time later. The King leaves behind a land in limbo- his wife, the Queen, is trying her level best to keep power from the hands of their immature son. Heroes search for a cure, trying to avenge their fallen King. Life in Greenville continues on, if a bit more cautiously. Life in the court, however, is marked by ambition and intrigue. Courtiers' motives are far from pure, and ambitions are on the rise. No one is sure who will emerge victorious. Happily ever after was never a guarantee. Fair is an original character role playing game inspired by Ella Enchanted, Fairest, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. The game takes place in the world created by those books, but no canon knowledge is required or expected. Lyric, California isn't a town that much different from any other. It's got nice weather, a college, some high schools with bitter rivalries... Whittlewell is the capital city of the British Empire and is on the cutting edge of the steam revolution. Its advances in air ship travel and compact innovations for steam capability are the envy of the world and have lead to the boon in wealth. However the gap between rich and poor is ever expanding. About the Game Is that darkness, or is that hope? The year is 1976, and the marauders have entered their sixth year. There has been talk in pureblood families of a 'Dark Lord', a man who's sole interest is purifying the wizarding world of muggles and muggleborns. He has enlisted the help of Hogwarts students, staff, and men living in Hogsmeade. With these minions, Lord Voldemort has already attacked many muggleborns, blood traitors, and Hogwarts. With the increasing attacks on Hogwarts, Headmaster Dumbledore has been given few options. After a muggleborn's death, the Headmaster has decided to lock the school. The Ministry of Magic has sent Hogwarts four aurors to help protect students and screen mail. No one gets in, and no one gets out. For now, Hogwarts has been at a lull - but how long will it last? It has been twelve years since the purge of the Telepaths, a two year long war where Telepaths and Telekinetics were ruthlessly hunted down. It has been twelve years and 1 month since the passing of the Psi Protection Act, granting telepaths freedoms as any other citizen and protections formerly unknown, but also placing limits on what telepaths could legally do. It has been 11 years and 11 months since the formation of the Psi Corps, a government controlled para-military organization charged with protecting, organizing, and regulating telepaths. With the formation of the Psi Cops, those telepaths that are considered rogues have gone further underground, helped by mundane sympathizers. They are only occasionally lucky enough to remain hidden and not returned to the Corps. Though there are heavy regulations on what a telepath can and cannot do, they soon find themselves working with the government, and outside the PPA. Some cherish their roles and some grow ever more frightful of the abuses being heaped upon telepaths. Will you obey the Corps as mother, as father? Or will you fight?
