MUST READ!! Introduction and Guidelines

Here there be RPs!
Updated: 17th Nov, 2008

Hi, just a quick intro and bit more information so you can get on with what you really came here for, to take a look around for a role playing game, or get yours posted and tagged, ready for others to find!

Some hints and tips for RPG mods...

Add tags!!!
Make sure you select all the appropriate tags for your RPG. It's much easier to do this after you post your entry, so you can see the tags that already exist, and select those appropriate ones. Once you've posted click on 'Edit the Tags' and you will see the list available. The tags are important, so it's good to make sure you get them right.

Tag Definitions
These are the categories (so far) for tags - make sure to add at least one from each category to your RPG's post so it will be included in results when people search via a category/tag!

c: *** = character: (what type is accepted/are you looking for?)
f: *** = fandom: (which one, if any, is your 'verse?)
g: *** = genre: (as in is it anime? Or celebrity? Or original? In other words what is the type of game?)
l: *** = location: (of game, ie journalfen? Livejournal? Insanejournal?)
m: *** = method: (of play, ie, threads, email, Googledocs, IM...)
r: *** = rating: (highest rating permitted, particularly sexual content and violence levels) ONLY USE ONE OF THESE, just like in the movies.
v: *** = 'verse: (aka universe - what sort of world your RPG exists in, whether it's a specific fandom 'verse, or a supernatural world, or perhaps a school, or real-world)

These are just a start. As the main way of 'cataloguing' the game is via tags, to make it easier for potential players to find your game be sure to add all the appropriate ones. And as things grow there may be more categories added!

Adding tags
At the moment you can add new tags that aren't already available, but I ask that you PLEASE keep to the format outlined above, and if you're unsure of the categories, then please ask - email is good! I will be maintaining the list and deleting anything that isn't set up correctly, and if appropriate adding new ones where they become apparent. But if you create numerous that are either already there, or not really appropriate, I will have to remove the ability for members to create them. I really don't want to do that...
But sadly for my sanity I have had to. Seems some folk can't spell, read, or type.

Add a note to this post asking for your tag to be added and for which RPG and I will add it for you and tag your entry. It's so much easier that way! Thanks.

Keep your tags up-to-date!
Drop by from time to time and take a look at the tags available. This is a constantly growing resource so will be refined as time goes on.

Subject Line
Make sure to put your game's name in the Subject Line too. You'll see on the left that each post on the page is included in the Summary with their Subject as the link. If you leave this blank it will just show (no subject) and that's a bit of a waste, isn't it? :)

Behind the cut
Feel free to put your ad and all its formatting behind a cut - that way if people are interested to see more they can take a peek behind the cut.

And finally? Let everyone know about the [info]rpg_catalgoue, both here and in LJ, especially anyone who enjoys RPing, whether it's modding or playing, or both. Anyone who would like to add this to their list of affiliates, (ie the ad comms) that would be great!

And remember, happy RPing!
