It is a place for people who have special gifts and want to learn more about them. A home that is also a school, of sorts, teaching them how to control and use their abilities to better themselves, and the world around them. The Institute is a Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts alternate reality game. It takes place in the here and now, with no memory or mention of gameverse AT ALL. Basically, it's a PB game, only instead of using celebrity faces, you're using your favorite FF/KH character's face and personality. Ever wonder what kind of grades Rikku would get if she were in high school? What crowd Cloud Strife would run with? What kind of part-time job would Sora have? Time to grow. Time to change. Time to kill. And that time is now. Twenty years into the future, things are different. Things aren't what they used to be or what they should be. Nathan Petrelli is president. The secrets the Company kept have been blown wide open for the public to see and for the government to use. Everyone has an ability. The power is cheap, used and normal. It's all about the power. Who has it and who knows how to use it. The government has succeeded in creating an elite group of super-powered soldiers. They are 'affectionately' called the 'Supers' by the public. The Supers are the governments weapon against any opposing force and it makes them unstoppable, free to do whatever they want. Who could stop them? To keep their experiments under control, each Super has a chip implanted into their brain and only the president has access to these chips, only the president can control the Supers. Security, the government calls it. Imprisonment, is how the Supers see it. But their duty is to their country and to the president. They are to protect the innocent and destroy the corrupt. Little do they know that their dear president is a serial killer known as Sylar in disguise and he has the power to make them do whatever he wants, to kill whoever he wants. Except some of the Supers have found a way to destroy the chip. Rumor is the Rebellion is behind it, that they discovered a 'loop hole'. Scientists are suggesting a malfunction. Whatever the reason, it's made Sylar edgy. Some of the most powerful people are now on the Rebellion's side and they're not afraid of taking the fight to him. But the Rebellion has a better idea. To defeat the Sylar of the future, they must go and find him in the past, before he became Sylar. No one knows who the man used to be but there are whispers, things their parents told them, clues that will lead them to find the man before he became a monster. Time travel is tricky, delicate and dangerous. But there is no other choice. Sylar has to be stopped. How far back will they have to go to defeat him? Nobody knows how old this city is, or exactly how it came to be. It’s not a desolate city by any means. Over 1,000,000 people live in Fallenpoint; the economy is excellent; and the residence are happy for the most part. One day the city, as if having a will of it’s own, begins to pull people in. Sometimes the city may invite a person, but most of the time it simply drags the person from their world into this one. When a character arrives, they find themselves in the central square. They find that they’re now carrying a bag of sorts. Inside of this bag is a netbook, the keys to their new home, and a credit card containing the equivalent of $10,000. Pretty soon characters find out that they’ve brought something along with them. Their own realities. The city of Fallenpoint has also pulled in several realities, and placed them within the pockets of it’s own reality. Characters soon discover that they can go back to their own realities, or to any other reality that is available. Those seeking to go home, however, will discover that their home world has changed dramatically. Certain events may not have happened, events may have been altered, people may be dramatically different, but one thing is for sure: Once you leave home, you can never go back. Most people ignore its auspicious name, though they would be advised to pay more attention to its meaning. It is a strange building. It seems to be somehow bigger inside than out, with narrow passageways, intimidating doorways, and lovely corners that disappear and reappear at random. And its occupants are just as strange--from all over the world, from all walks of life, all of their lives have nudged them toward this building as if they were always meant to live there. This is, of course, because they were. Every man, woman and child in the building is a reincarnated fable, the stories told to human children for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. Once very real, the fables began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. They have all been reborn in human forms, though their essence remains, waiting to be awakened at the right time, in the right place. Now is the time--Bellum Letale is the place. As their lives connect and weave together, as they follow their petty desires and chase love, they are, all of them, on the brink of disaster. Not just for them, but for the world at large.
