[Image Editing] Photoshop Actions

Download: Mediafire

Here is my set of actions that I use to edit Teen Wolf screencaps in Photoshop. The show’s caps are notoriously dark and aggravating to work with so I came up with a base set of actions that I use to work with the caps. Each action isn’t going to work perfectly on every capture and will require individual image tweaking, but these are a good place to start. See examples behind cut.

Please, credit [info]wastintime in resources if using these actions. Thank you!

hello, everyone! So, I'm not exactly new to the community but this is my first time posting and while browsing through all the extremely helpful links but I still haven't really found a basic icon making tutorial. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just your simple tutorial on how to properly icon photos so they don't look blurred or grainy, etc. For example these. (my apologies if that's your journal but I totally dig how simple and clean the icons look!) can anyone help me out? Also, what programs do you as icon makers prefer to work with? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Problems Making GIFs in Photoshop [Solved]

Until recently, I've been pretty decent at cutting my own videos with YouTube Downloader and making GIFs out of them, but then out of nowhere, I started running into a quality issue. Now, I'm not sure whether it's just this particular video that I cut because I haven't found the patience to try anything else at the moment, but it's driving me up a wall. I've tried several times now, but I keep getting the same results.

I don't know all the technical lingo, but I do believe the problem I'm having is called banding. In other words, every GIF I save under any setting (I keep referring to Google with my problems) comes out with wavy lines of color that weren't there before. I'm aware there's a speed problem with this particular GIF.

I'm not worried about that because I can fix it myself, but this quality issue is really starting to annoy me. What am I doing wrong?

Video To GIF Converter

This is a step by step tutorial of how to make gifs from videos (.avi / .mov / .wma files) without having to cut to the video into frames and then animate them. The program I use allows you to mark the section of the video you want and then converts that section direction from a video file to a gif.

This is particularly useful if you're like me and lack the patience to string together image files to make a gif and are horrible with photoshop (or equivalent programs). Basically how to turn THIS into THIS without GifSoup or Photoshop in just a few easy steps.

GIF Editor & Inflation Calculator

I remember seeing someone post an alternate GIF editor site a while back, but I can't find the post to link to it. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'll add a link to that post here. :)

Online GIF Editor

Go from this:

To this (you can even add text!):

The Inflation Calculator

How it works:

A. First, enter a dollar amount (I think this version only works with US dollars).
B. Enter the year in which you want to find out how much something is. For example, if you want to find out how much a $5.00 bill was worth in 1910, you'd type 1910 in the box beside initial year.
C. Currently the maximum year for this calculator is 2010, so if you're looking to see how much your dollar amount (ex. $5.00) was in 1910, type 2010 in the box beside final year. Click Submit.
D. The reverse also works. By switching 1910 and 2010, you can find out what the 1910 equivalent of $5.00 was ($0.22).

This obviously will come in handy for games set in the past.

SHOPPED!FUNKY HAIR 101.

Alright. It seems I'm on a tutorial craze at the moment. I don't think of myself as any kind of Photoshop Goddess, but I've picked up a few tricks here and there, and I'm more than willing to share what tips I have with you guys! Now, COLOURING HAIR is a pretty popular topic. In this age of comic book RPGs or just plain wacky PBs, I do see 'shopped hair all over the place. And I commend the people who do it. It always looks so funky and great. However, I know it's not a skill the average user knows, and I'm here to change that.

Question on image editing

Hello, hello! There was a post in here a while back on adjusting images that are dark so you can make decent icons out of them (or something along those lines). I believe it was for Photoshop. I can't seem to find it in the tags, so I'm not sure if it was deleted or not, but I need to get a picture sort of evenly lightened to icon it.

I have Photoshop and GIMP so any links or tips to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. The image is http://tinypic.com/r/eju2wh/7.

Shit I keep meaning to post.

Having trouble with RP terminology? A lot of the terms you're probably having trouble with probably come from fandom and places like [info]ohnotheydidnt on LJ. The following links might help you out:

Oh No They Didn't: Star Trek Dictionary
ONTD, show, and lots of other terminology
A Fanspeak Dictionary

Photoshop for Mac (not sure if the links still work - sorry!)
Winzip Pro (filzip is a great freeware alternative)
Winzip RAR

We Heart It. Lots of incredible photos and things that would make great banners. Introduced to me by [info]tetris.

Hi, there! I really hope it's okay that I'm posting this here, but I figure it might be helpful for other Harry Potter rpers for use in games and whatnot. I made my own Wanted poster for my Bellatrix Lestrange, and I wrote up a tutorial to go with it! So today, we'll be learning to make this:

Photoshop question?

Okay. So I've been using GIMP for about two years now and generally as long as I have high quality photos to work with and with a lot of practice I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome of most everything I make. I never try to make anything terribly fancy with it but I feel like if I had the tools I could do a lot more graphic wise.

So I looked into getting Photoshop a while back and I just checked again tonight and it says that CS4 is $700 unless you're upgrading, where it's $200.

So, my question is, for all those using Photoshop did you really pay $700 for it? If not, how did you get your hands on it?

I guess this could go for PSP too, althought that's only listed as $60 on their wesbite, would users of that program recommend it as comparable to Photoshop?

Not truly a tutorial but...

...still very exciting for graphics! Photoshop CS5 is coming out with a super incredibly cool new super powerful image editing engine. I know a lot of what he says is pretty techincal, but just watch the video, I promise you'll be geeking over the future of icon, banner and advertisement making.

Two things.

BEWARE. A lot of people who use photobucket and other image storing that saves images with names of the user's choice ad images aren't showing up. [info]advertisemyrp figured out why. Adblock is blocking them because it thinks they're ads. So, how do you prevent it? Simple. Don't name your image - or include things in the name - that say things like "ad"/"advertisement"/etc when you save/upload it.

Also, there's a great tutorial on selective coloring here.

I'm finally getting around and re-doing tags now. Say it with me: finally.
