Not preachy at all. I think it's an excellent and long-needed post.
I have to admit I have been on the wrong end of a bullying situation as a mod, and let myself be pushed around by my other mods rather than speak out against it. I no longer have contact with those mods, but I do with the girl they tended to gang up on.
I want to apologize to her, but at this late date (this was at least four years ago, though I may be mis-counting), I know that would probably be more for me than her, and I don't want to upset her all over again. Mostly, I let her decide how much (or little) interaction we have, occasionally speaking up when I can.
I think one thing your piece is missing, though, is that age doesn't make a difference. We think of kids when we talk of cyber bullying, but really, it happens all over the net. We just assume that adults can deal with it. But they shouldn't have to any more than kids.
