In all of his six years at the hotel, nothing like this had happened. There had been minor injuries, there had been illnesses, there had once been a concussion, and a staff member had suffered a broken bone. It also wasn't the first time Phillipe had seen a dead body in his life, but that was another country and another time. These things didn't happen in Patagonia, at the edge of the world. People here lead quiet lives, striking a balance with the rocks and sea, or came from far and wide to see something untouched. Instead, Phillipe found himself locking the door again, holding in a sigh. It was late enough in the evening that an announcement to all of the guests - over half of whom had already retired to their rooms - could wait until morning; panic in the middle of the night and no way to transfer all of the guests to another hotel at this hour would only make things worse. For now, he would need to fetch the paramedic, and to telephone the police.
