Papers spread before him, elbows braced, bent on the table below them as if the hands they held up were the only support his weary head had the hope of gaining. Coffee had helped to wake him up after only two nights on three hours sleep and a peculiar case not usually seen in Patagonia. Any deaths that had happened in the region as of late were natural or completely accidental. This Jacob Jones case was rare and disturbing. Still there was a limited number of suspects, Douglas had dealt with more complex cases in his time, he had faith. He looked down at the name of the next person that had been one of the last to see Jones alive, a Charles Grey. Fingers lifting to press at his temples and a long drink off the dredges of his coffee, Douglas stood, ran a hand down his vest and gathered all his papers to do exactly that. |
