Re: gatsby: mingmei + solas
[Mingmei paused briefly at his comments, his concerns in regards to how she would feel with his opinion. Everyone had their own opinions about everything else and, in her opinion, were entitled to them. Still, there was another comment to be addressed first.]
It is, an interesting place. Every place is interesting. [She smiled a bit at that.] It was something that the hotel gave me and I can't really turn my back on it just yet. It might seem strange, but I feel I owe the place that much. [And then, to address his concern about his opinion.]
I am asking you about your opinion, Solas. It doesn't have to be kind. [She lowered her gaze a moment, then spoke quietly.] When my people escaped our home during the great wars to come to America, we were treated awful. They thought of us the same as their enemies at the time, putting us in prison camps, war camps. They were fake working camps, basically, a place to keep us all where no one would care about us being there. They wanted to send us back. To send us back to our homeland where people were dying by the minute from hunger and even the government struggled to survive. We thought the worst of the people in America, but at the same time, we could find similarities and things we enjoyed about being there, as well.
[Mingmei paused, as though trying to figure out her point about sharing this information.] There are many sides to all opinions, Solas. I am curious about yours. How can you become used to the feeling if you can't speak about it?
