Reginarrative (lololololol): Enchanted Forest ----> Gotham City Who: Regina Mills Where: Enchanted Forest -----> Gotham City What: Regina goes exploring When: Nowish Warnings: Nah
Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
Regina was bored in her palace - her life was incredibly complicated now that she was practically alone in the world. She'd gone all around the forest, abandoned houses, peasants who barely knew who she was, some that did which was refreshing. She had spent a day or two learning the lay of the land, making sure she had proper security and that the borders were well defended. She ensured that her bits and bobs and things were in place. She changed her clothes.
She went to visit the kitchens and ate a sweet bun.
And she did that day in and day out for two entire days.
It wasn't much longer than that when she realized she could, quite literally, go anywhere she wanted. Leaving her kingdom didn't seem to cause a stir, which bothered her - but she was pretty sure they would miss her when she was gone. And most importantly, she was the queen. She was calling the shots.
She couldn't find anyone she knew, and it was a possibility that they were in these other doors.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
And decide she did. She marched right through the first door she came across and into a crowded subway station, which she had never seen before in her life, but with a quick snap of her fingers she paused all movement around her long enough to take it all in and switch her clothes out for something more like what everyone else had on, and snapped her fingers again so everyone could catch back up with her. She found her way out, a bit frazzled and annoyed and she might have threatened, and then followed through on that threat, to turn someone into a toad but she really wouldn't be able to recall if ever asked.
...for people just waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or the waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.
She walked up to the street level, and covered her nose and mouth with her hand. Eugh. It was the stench of a street in the hot summer in the slums right as a rain storm finally hit to wash the waste down the gutters.
It was horrendous. And bleak. And the sky was a dull brown instead of a bright blue, the wind whipped but there was a mix of scents on the air like fire fumes and it burned her lungs when she breathed in. This was a horrible place. Loud and ugly.
She stopped the first mounted patrolman she saw. "Where is the king?" she asked expectantly. The police officer kicked in her general direction and told her to back off. "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" she hollered after him as offended as she'd ever been in her life. Which was saying something because Regina was very easily offended.
A man in rags, who smelled worse than the entire breeze blowing through the city approached her urgently. He told her she could find the king in a building up the street. The one with the large emblem on it. Bruce Wayne, King of Gotham City. Fair enough.
Regina, Queen of the Enchanted Forest and outlying areas, would have words with him about his disgusting city.
She entered the building, and began with her requests at the first person she saw. A security guard who told her to have a seat. He took her name, and after a moment backed away and said he would see what he could do about getting her an audience with the king. Finally. She was getting somewhere.
She watched the news, recaps of the crime and poverty that ran rampant through the city. The Batman - what was a Batman? she'd asked someone waiting with her. They explained. She'd need to meet with him as well. He had magic. She overheard two women idly wondering if the king's son had skipped town on the princess and their child.
This was a horrible place indeed.
Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all. Fame! You'll be as famous as famous can be, with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
Though, Regina would concede hours later sitting in a Gotham City jail cell, that the worst had been yet to come. She waited until the guard's back was turned and snapped her fingers and took herself to the door and went straight back home to the tub. With a list of improvements to bring to the attention of the King and The Batman.
And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)
