Re: log: luke & jack, silent hill
Luke hoped they would see the apartment. He hoped they wouldn't bring an army of monsters along in their wake; he'd never want to put Wren in danger like that. But hope was never, ever a sure thing, and in a town like this it seemed even more uncertain. So, he had to be firm. No hoping they'd find a way out, they just would. And if he had to kill a dozen monsters to keep Wren and Evie safe, well, he'd do that too, and he knew Jack would be right there beside him on that.
Running, though, seemed like the best option just then. Shoot when they had to, otherwise cover as much ground as possible. He tried not to look up, tried not to look around, even though it felt like there were monsters breathing down his neck from every direction. But it was fine, yeah, running had always worked out okay in the video games--
And then the sirens started.
His steps slowed, but he kept moving. He wasn't sure if it was better to keep going or to try to find cover, maybe wait the change out; maybe there was no better. Around them, as the sirens sounded, the world of fog and ash peeled away to reveal what was really underneath. Buildings became warped, twisted shaped, rusted metal and crumbling brick, the sky turned dark and red, the acrid smell of blood filled his nose. There were puddles of it, beneath his feet. And maybe it was just him, Luke wasn't sure, but suddenly he felt very, very cold. Like ice, bone deep, and his clothes did nothing to keep it out.
There were other things in the dark, now. Wet sounds, screams, and moans, and he swore he could hear words. Words he shouldn't have been hearing, because these things couldn't possibly talk. He fumbled for his flashlight, gun at the ready, and tried not to shiver.
