They should see it, but there was no telling if they would. The fog was so thick that Jack could barely see the other side of the street. They'd be practically on top of the thing by the time they spotted it. What other option did they have, though?
In the meantime, the air around them was growing close with shades and shadows, and Jack pulled his own gun from its holster. Luke was right - at this point, they couldn't make things any worse. He saw a flicker of something through the fog, fanged and brutish like a gargoyle out of myth. Its neck craned up at an impossible angle, looking down at them both, and he knew its grimacing face.
He looked away. Nothing good was going to come of meeting his demons eye to eye. This entire town was engineered purely for that, and he wasn't going to give it the satisfaction if he could avoid it. They had to be nearing the apartments, didn't they?
Just then, a low whine started in the distance, louder every second, and then a second, layered over it. Sirens. The timing couldn't have been better.
