Re: log: luke & jack, silent hill
It happened quickly enough that Jack didn't have much time to react with Luke, backpedaling beside him to try to escape the burning spray that fired out at them. Jack heard the guttural choking of someone slowly losing the neurological function to so much as swallow, and when Luke acted on reflex he was almost relieved, even though he knew better.
There was no doubt that the quiet around them started to fill with distant shuffling, groaning, keening noises when Luke fired on the monster. One down, but a lot more on the way.
He didn't respond, just got to his feet. He made a short check of his clothing - there was a hole in the side of his boot, but nothing worse than that. Luck. Luck wouldn't serve them for long. "How far?" He had a rough idea of where they were relative to the apartment now, but it wouldn't hurt to check it against Luke's best guess. Anything in the radius of at least a block would have heard the shots, and would be creeping, dragging, running now toward them.
