[It was impossible to tell where was the best place to land for information. He tested out a few terrains here and there throughout the world with a team of SeeD, finding some familiar enemies and nothing they couldn't handle. That much was a relief. But that didn't give them information about where this world came from. Even during time compression, the places around the world had been familiar, just...broken.
Not so here.
So based on the difficulty of the enemies, they tried to pick a place that seemed...easier. There was a castle nearby, with a little town around it, and Squall ordered the Garden to land at a safe distance. The last thing they needed was another FH incident, but at least the sight of a few airships patrolling the area made it seem not like a pacifist colony. Whether or not that was good, well...sure it would be good if no one had to fight ever, but that's not the way the world worked. It was easier to talk if they had that common understanding. He still kept the team to approach the castle small--himself and Rinoa, the only other person he trusted completely right now. And a better, friendlier face for whatever they found.
They walked through the outlying town slowly, but with his sight ever towards the castle. Oh, how he hated castles. He glanced over at Rinoa, feeling the stares of the villagers. They stood out. A lot. He trained his expression to be guarded and unaffected by their looks. They just had to talk to the person in charge.]

[Whomever it was sitting on the throne, it wasn't Cecil, or Rosa, or even Ceodore. That was a jarring thing to discover. It was more jarring to find out that no one seemed to think there was anything strange about this--not that she made a habit of talking to people all that much about it. People in Mist already were talking to her about events she had never lived through, which had made it a lot more difficult to relate to them. Left with more questions than answers was what led her to Baron, the easiest place within okay walking distance (or, as the case may be, chocobo distance), but that had not helped much.
By now, she had learned more about the mystery of the hotel and this world in particular. Rydia had been reading the magical journal, trying to absorb as much about her current predicament as possible. It brought up more questions than answers, though she was starting to expect that would be the new normal for her. Right about when she was considering leaving the city to go back to her home (her house, at least, was still in Mist and definitely belonged to her), she stepped out toward the edge of town, letting her eyes lift to take in the castle.
She inhaled slowly and just as slowly let out that same breath. Only then did she get an inclination that someone was approaching. With a blink, the green-haired girl turned around in time to see two people who were...dressed decidedly out of place.] You are...? [It was a question, but the way it cut off made it sound less like she was demanding that information and more that their identity was at the tip of her tongue.]
