Re: log: dylan & max (soon to be daniel & lin too)
[Max watched the mirror-water-hairslick with amusement. The grin was paired with a quiet chuckle as she just let him do his thing without interruption. For whatever reason, she thought it was a good sign. Her dark gaze slid over to the backpack and stayed there. The two things - the settling of the backpack and the hair - were so small, but they reminded her of the man he'd been; she liked that.]
McKendrick, did you forget who you're talking to? What is a reading rainbow? [She grimaced, the grin still in place as she followed him, and the grimace on its heels, playful - well, playful for her.] It sounds happy. We both know how I feel about happiness.
[But it did give her a profile, actually, the things he said. It was different than her brother's warnings about the reclusive writer, and there was nuance there that wasn't in any of the background checking she'd done when they were in Vegas.
They passed a nurses station, and she smiled a warm and reassuring smile to one of the nurses there. The smile declared that they belonged there, and it was completely fake. She turned her attention back to McKendrick, like their conversation was completely casual.] You threaten men with your gun on a regular basis? [Eyebrow lift, double entendre.] Which room? [Because she trusted he was looking at the nursing station board while she was playing the 'fake smile' game.]
