Ra's narrative Who: Ra's What: Planning Where: Hotel Rex, Gotham When: Current Warnings/Rating: None
He couldn't ask for a better time. With the Detective being gone, then returning only to have so many problems originating from the Marvel door, driving their protectors to distraction, there wasn't a better time to strike.
And strike he did. Only this time it was quietly, a slow poison at the heart of Gotham. City leaders met within 'Gray's' hotels and those that did not already have a member of the League working within their offices became targets. Backgrounds were researched, subjects were followed, weaknesses found. Those that could be manipulated went on one list that ended with them having a new employee in their midst. Those that could not, went on a separate list. They would be dealt with later.
He'd always told the Detective that if you loved something, you had to protect it. If you couldn't protect it, you had to teach it how to protect itself. This was how he had taught Talia and Nyssa, even Dusan, all of his children that made it back to him. There were others out there, sons and daughters of women that he met that remained at their mother's side or found their own path, but never him. They did not bear his name nor his will to change the world.
And change the world must.
He studied the chessboard in front of him, the stand in full view of the windows that line the offices of the hotel Rex. Ra's preferred it here to Gray's other hotels. Should he turn to his right, the skyline of Gotham would greet him. To the left, the door. The door opened, a member of his League stepping inside. He was not in ninja black but businessman gray, relaying the details of a plan already set in motion. Two men into water and utilities, one into transportation and the extra League members he had sent for were on their way into Gotham now. Each of them had a separate virus, brought from his private store of them. They weren't the point this time, merely a precaution in case those heroes from Marvel decided to come over.
Everything was going according to plan. His fingers lingered over a white pawn on the chessboard. He nodded his dismissal and moved the piece. Pawn to E4.
