Re: dancefloor: eddie/steph.
Eddie hadn't felt at home until tonight with these recycled lights overhead, with the ring on his finger and Stephanie looking at him like she almost didn't believe he was there. So, maybe this was the calm before another storm. Maybe there were several other little tornadoes swirling around them about to be their own disasters. But, it was hard for him to take any of it seriously. He had her, she was his wife and he could just see their lives unfold in front of them. There wasn't a full minute he wasn't touching her. Arm around her waist, fingers laced through hers or his head rested on her shoulder. He wanted to be with her, to look at the rings on her finger and touch that necklace that she hadn't taken off for years now. Years and years.
He took off his jacket at some point, rolling the white sleeves up and loosening that bowtie. Eddie danced, he drank and he was just so fucking happy in a way he never thought he'd get to be. When Gold Digger started playing, he howled a laugh right along with Stephanie and danced with her in a nerdy, fearless way that didn't apologize for any of his riddledness. Eddie sang along with her (they knew ALL the words) and put his hands on her hips as they danced. He yelled his favorite lines, he shouted WE WANT PRENUP, YA! like he really did and cheesed a smarmy little grin at her.
"Babe," Eddie shouted over the music. "If you answer one riddle correctly, I'll tear up the prenup. I swear on my mom." He put his hand over his heart solemnly. "I'll make an easy one! Riddle me this! Who loves you more than anyone else in all time and space?"
