[On the very night, of the very same day that the latest in a long noble line of prognosticating meteorological savant Groundhogs predicted that United States would see 6 more weeks of Winter, a very
unpredicted and
unpredictable storm began to brew in the Ramapo Mountains in Orange County, New York. An area not unknown for storms, it had already been badly hit with the storms that had hit much of the US in the prior days, 18 inches of snow accumulation had already landed on the ground by the time the rodent informed everyone of his prediction.
However by 10 PM on 2 February the clouds began to gather above Tuxedo Park, New York almost as if they'd been called there, said one odd resident. Eccentrics often inhabited the area so no one was surprised by that answer. The snow started to fall, and while the storm did indeed move, it didn't seem to move on. Only increase in size.
Local weather experts across the state were baffled, unsure if the storm itself was growing or if it was simple a merging of several smaller systems. By 3 AM on February 3rd another 8 inches of snow will have blanketed much of Marvel's New York Metro Area, and New Jersey all the way to the coastline. Tuxedo Park will have seen an extra foot all the way out to Poughkeepsie. The snow continues to fall but it has tapered off a bit.
Another thing to note is the strong
lake effect snow coming off of the lakes - some of which could be called
ponds in the Tuxedo park area. Which has made for some very interesting snow drifts. At some points during the storm the wind howls and gusts, and at other parts it is calm and the only sound is the snow falling. Other times the strange moments of thunder snow abound with lighting in the sky and glaring off the white snow on the ground. It's a weird night.]
